Bernie is currently on Prime if you haven't seen it.
It is about the 1996 murder of 81-year-old millionaire Marjorie Nugent in Carthage, Texas, by her 39-year-old "boyfriend" Bernie Tiede.
It is classified as a "docudrama black comedy true crime" film. The townspeople commenting on their relationship is hilarious. Some of them were actually people in Carthage who knew them both.
Even though the subject matter is dark the film is hilarious. Especially if you grew up in a small town. It reminds me of people I grew up with.

Contains a scene that accurately breaks down the different regions within Texas.

Great movie. Jack Black's best performance by far. This movie doesn't get the love that it should. Yes, there were tons of people in the movie who were locals & basically playing themselves. If you grew up in a small town like I did it as realistic as it gets.

It's Jack Black's best performance.
I never get tired of this movie.

he should have gotten an award for this.

Agreed. I’m not a big fan of Jack Black by any stretch but he should have at least been nominated for best actor for Bernie.

The montage of McConaughey and the townsfolk debating Bernie’s sexuality is one of the funniest sequences I’ve watched.

The scene with that same guy describing the trial being moved to the smaller town is hilarious as well.
When he talks about the jury pool...
'These people are going to decide the case? There aren't 10 teeth between them, and I wouldn't let them work on my car..."
