Better 80s "Nerd" film - Revenge of the Nerds(84) or Real Genius(85)?

I like both. Strong cast, reasonably strong acting. Movies are fun, rewatchable and quotable.
Now, as far as preference and full disclosure here, baws, I was a nerd and went to a nerd school while these films were in theaters. So, I know my nerds - Real Genius was a little more accurate as to how we spoke and acted around each other and how we viewed the world.
But, both films are probably better than their throwaway comedy credentials might suggest, particularly for me and my ilk.
What say the M/TV board?

When I first discovered jerking off, the panty raid scene in Revenge of the Nerds was one of my go to scenes. We owned it on VHS. So I'll go with Nerds.

I love both movies equally so I can't pick which one is better
though the chick is hotter as Jordan than she was as Judy

Real Genius had more soul cuz of the Mitch/Knight dynamic.
Revenge of the Nerds was a good time though and is a well deserved classic.

Revenge of the Nerds is more of a gross out or sex comedy masquerading as a story about social outcasts.
Real Genius has more of a real plot with a plausible protagonist with a real story arc that has some meaning outside of the central character.
Real Genius IMO

Highly biased, since Real Genius is one of my favorite movies of that era. I believe it is highly underrated.

Nerds is funnier, but Genius is a better overall movie. It's highly underrated.

Love both but I gotta give the edge to Real Genius.

I would agree with this for the most part.
I think RG is much cleverer.

Seriously, Genius is an extremely clever, well written movie. It has a well developed plot with interesting characters. The pacing is perfect. It's a true gem.
Nerds is a fantastic comedy, but nobody would ever claim it to be anything other than that. It takes the Meatballs and Pokeys formula and turns it into a masterpiece of that genre. With all of that said, it can't compare to Genius in regards to an overall great film.

There is a Kent at work that I only see, lets say 6 times a year. and literally every single time i see him I say, "Hello, Kent", in my best Mitch-God voice. And literally everytime he covers his privates and looks up awkwardly. No one around us knows why I lower my voice for his name only nor why he covers his junk and looks up when I do.
However, the silly joy we feel doing this far outweighs the weird looks we get.
