Anyone else a big fan of this movie?

Debra Winger and Theresa Russell had some serious chemistry going-on in this suspenseful game of cat and mouse with one of the better surprise endings you'll ever see.

Theresa Russell must've blown Weinstein or some shite because she's a terrible actress.

She was different .... different kind of voice, look, smoky sort of presence. And Black Widow was billed as an Erotic Thriller and it fulfilled that bill. She was probably perfect for the role, as was Winger in this case.

I'm not sure about her background (I'll look it up) but I think she was married to a producer or director or something.

I mean she made a splash in Last Tycoon and most younger people remember her as the Mom in Wild Things.

quote:

In 1979, she was cast as Milena Flaherty in the thriller Bad Timing (1980), the first of six films starring Russell directed by Nicolas Roeg, whom she married in 1982. Though Bad Timing was controversial upon release, Russell's performance was praised by critic Roger Ebert, who wrote: "If there is any reason to see this film, however, it is the performance by Theresa Russell (who was Dustin Hoffman's lover in Straight Time). She is only 22 or 23, and yet her performance is astonishingly powerful. She will be in better films, I hope, and is the only participant who need not be ashamed of this one." Other Roeg/Russell collaborations include Insignificance, Eureka, Track 29, Cold Heaven, and Aria. Overall, however, Russell and Roeg's film collaborations were box-office failures and critically divisive.

Roeg was able to get a few good performances out of her: Bad Timing, Eureka, and Insignificance.

It's telling that other great directors, such as Ken Russell, couldn't get anything resembling a decent performance out of her.
