Fun factoid: One of the artists was Brian Kensinger, a former Disney illustrator who became somewhat famous after The Force Awakens with his Calvin & Hobbes-inspired Li'l Kylo series:

Man, I wish I could get into anime. I open these threads and everyone is excited and I have no idea what I am reading. Are these shows a continuous story line or stand alone? If you had one to pick for a newbie, which series would it be?

This one. It's an original story, and the way the story plays out, you should expect a minimum of 3 more seasons.

I saw this and their main messeage is, White man bad and for those that didn't know, I'm asian. Its very obvious lol! Lets not forget what the japanese did to their fellow asian right?

I mean, she was discriminated against because of her whiteness. It was very clear the Japanese didn’t like her and thought her a mongrel that was beneath them because she was half white and had blue eyes. The Japanese are very explicitly racists against her. So, how is it anti white?
If this were set in the US and the white people despised someone who was half Japanese would you also be upset because it makes white people look racist?
You can’t have it both ways man.

Just finished episode 6. What a good show. It’s Kill Bill mixed with Ghost of Tsushima. Simple story. Cool characters. Solid A+.

People have become overly sensitive to these kinds of story elements.
Look, I hate the DEI liberal stuff too. The Star Wars Sequel trilogy and allegedly 5th Indiana Jones movie (I maintain there are only 3) are pure trash because of it. That doesn’t mean a story about a girl out for revenge inherently bad. Kill Bill rules. Which is basically what this show is.
Also, Japanese people were and still are pretty racist. It’s totally in line with the story and setting that they’d hate her because of her race. It’s not even new. 47 Ronin already did the mixed race thing and the characters in that looked down in Keanu because of it.
I didn’t feel preached to or any level of anti-white wokeness in this show at all.
