I have mixed emotions about this.

They were right to kick him out of his(Aunt’s house), I mean he had a meth lab in the basement.

Maybe my favorite moment of the entire series was how Saul and Jesse got the house back. His parents were indeed not disclosing a felony by not reporting a contimnated basement. “Oh! I see you have your Termite Inspection, that’s good. ??

When they were in El Camino on the news, they just seemed more embarrassed by him then concerned about his well being.

There’s times as a parent, I feel there pain and back them but others is they kind of seem like shitty people who masquerade as moral.

What does the M/T board think as a whole how they handled his entire situation?

IDK they seemed more interested in turning him in than just giving him tough love. Also, the littler brother was a shite head too and they kissed his arse

Jessie is the only main character in the show who I think gets morally better as the show progresses but of course his parents are basically out of his life by then. He was a pretty shitty person at the start of the show. I’m sure they were completely fed up with his shite and nothing they tried worked.

This is how I feel about it. From some of their early comments, it seemed they were exhausted with him, and trying to protect the younger son.

I think it's a relatively normal portrait of codependent/enabling parents who make mistakes with boundaries and when to put their foot down with a drug-addict child.

Well that sums it up perfectly.

By the time he matured and grew up, they were done with him.

A local police officer said, most people are done with the bullshite by 24. If you’re still doing stupid shite after 24, most likely you will continue down the path of being a career screw up

I get he was a piece of crap to start the show, but he was still in highschool when it began. I feel like his parents weren't interested in his possible redemption, which he achieved without them. Jessie's parents in BB remind me of the Kettlemans in BCS. Outwardly moral but selfish and lazy at their core.

Jesse was a piece of crap.

Don't let the show whirl your thoughts on him. He was a drug dealing doofus.

No parent here would want him in the least.

wasn't his little brother actually getting good grades and achievements in school?

that's probably why.

They were "protecting" their youngest but he was potentially on his way to being another Jesse with the joint, marijuana the gateway drug

I was under the impression Jesse was a good student/artist and then the parents either gave too much freedom or he rebelled against how strict they were and the same thing is going to happen with his brother.

In the context of the show, Jesse was the moral compass. And frankly the only sympathetic character. A drug manufacturer…yes. A doofus…yes. But everyone else on the show was pure shite through and through.

Jesse was my favorite character by the end.

I got the impression they just had been dealing with his shite forever and we’re done with it and focusing on insulating his little brother from his shite.

100% - Jesse’s character arc was the best part of breaking bad.

Walt had him as a student. He referenced how bad of a student he was numerous times.

Disagree totally. He was a consummate frickup who always make the stupid wrong decision.

You just described Walter White perfectly.

No he wasn’t.

The show never portrays how much they tried to help him before it began but I would imagine a lot as they seemed burned out.

The guy that almost single-handedly built a multi-million dollar drug manufacturing business? And yeah he had his frickups but Jesse was pivotal in bringing it all down.

My first watch of BB made me not like his parents but on the second watch many years later I sympathize with his parents more in that they probably gave up a lot of their time and effort in order to set him straight. You can see that Jesse was indeed very gifted when he would apply himself but the only thing that he seemed to care about was getting high.

agreed. the subtle secondary plot of Jesse "breaking good" was the best part of the story to me.

i think his parents are sympathetic characters. yeah they lied about the house and they were pretty harsh to him at times, but like others have said, they were dealing with a terrible human and we dont know what all they did before the start of the story.
