HBO has announced a new series from Eastbound & Down creators McBride and Jody Hill, called Vice Principals. McBride will return to star in the new comedy series, which has been given an 18-episode series order (with option for extension). In an interesting tactic, the decision on how many episodes per season will be decided later - so no, don't expect those 18 to air in one year, but rather broken up as McBride and HBO decide on the best approach.

According to HBO’s press release, McBride’s new comedy series will follow “the story of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals.”

Eastbound & Down’s David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) and Stephanie Laing (Banshee) will executive produce Vice Principals.

Vice Principals doesn’t yet have a premiere date.

This could be good. EB&D was easily at it's best when Kenny Powers was in a school setting. I'll check it out.

I enjoyed EB&D, but I hope it is more than just Kenny Powers as a vice principal.

Danny McBride is the same character in every movie. So it will most definitely be Kenny Powers as a vice principal.

This. And I'll still probably watch it, to be honest.

Did Eastbound have a series finale or did it just kind of end? I watched the first season, but then kind of forgot about it honestly.

And I saw Danny McBride not too long ago in a liquor store out here. He's a lot smaller than I had imagined. CSB

It had a finale and it was really funny I thought. The last season was money. Not as good as first season but there really is no way any season could have topped 1.

I think it ended well. Season 4 was hilarious, I thought.

One of my groomsmen works for Danny McBride and Jody Hill (the producer). They are working on writing now, which he says will probably take a year before they start filming. He said they might go back to Wilmington, NC where they filmed for EB&D. They were also working on another show for HBO that is sort of a spoof of Entourage, but instead of tv/movie actors they are all porno actors; not sure if that one is going to get picked up.

It had a finale. Season 4 was really, really good imo. Much better than 2 and 3.

When Kenny was in school it was definitely the funniest episodes of the series. I bet they thought so too, if it weren't for KP having to go somewhere as far as having a shot at the bigs for his arc, I'm confident they would have rather just stayed in that school setting and write KP into more shenanigans.

This is their opportunity to do just that and I think it'll be awesome.

NO Ben Best

If the trifecta is all in on this show i'll watch every episode.

McBride is smaller in person, like less fat or short?

In consideration of the vice-Principles at my HS, this could be great.

We had nicknames for them, started rumors about them(like Ms. So-and-so is really a man) and tell them to all of the incoming freshmen.

I am willing to put big money on there being a hot counselor.
