*No spoilers past season 1 please*
Started this years ago and didn't get past episode one. Saw it mentioned a few times in "Shows like The Leftovers and Severance" type threads so decided to give it another go. Glad I did.
Just wrapped up season one and though it took me a while because I fell asleep almost every episode (this is not a knock on the show, I get my TV watching in before I go to sleep and reading subtitles puts me to sleep like I'm reading a book no matter how good the show is), I thoroughly enjoyed S1. Very fun, and at times confusing ride. I'm actually still confused
Jonas' story line in particular. In episode 9 or 10 he is talking with old Ines and he's like "I'm so messed up he's actually my uncle and that's my cousin and he's my dad and I kissed my aunt and my brother is grandpa and grandpa is my nephew." I was like WTF I missed some stuff
The three timelines is fairly difficult to keep up with. Throwing in 1953, which I like, really messed me up. Now we're about to have 2053 (which is badass), that's really going to screw me up.
How do seasons two and three compare to one? Hopefully there is a complete story and it wasn't cancelled on a cliffhanger.

It's a complete story. After watching all three seasons twice, it's difficult to separate the seasons as it tells a seamless story. Don't want to give away anything. One of the best shows I've ever watched.

One of the very few series I watched multiple times. Still confused, but it’s great

There is no cliffhanger, it has a complete ending that is really good. And there really is not a drop off, it's fantastic from start to finish.

It only gets more confusing and better. I love the fact that the writers knew going into making it that it would only be 3 seasons. They did a really good job of wrapping up the story and not leaving many loose ends. You have to pay complete attention to it. You can’t miss any of it or you’ll be completely lost. So it’s not a watch when you’re half awake half asleep type of show.
It’s so hard to keep up with that there used to be websites dedicated to telling you who is who and who’s related to who.
IMO, it’s the best show Netflix has put out.

I watched S1 years ago but just had a bunch going on when S2 came out. Never got back into it. I enjoyed S1 outside of one really hard to watch scene towards the end.
Going to watch all 3 because of this board I think.

To me, Dark has one of the most satisfying endings of any scifi series. Every question is answered with some of it not happening until the very end.
I may have to queue it up again and do a re-watch.

This was also my experience. It struck me as a show that might keep you guessing but just because of its random, convoluted story and not anything particularly clever.
But since then I keep hearing it recommended and I've considered giving it another chance.

Nice. That's what I needed.

I second all the praise above. You can tell these writers had the full plan from Day 1.
What makes Dark stand out the most to me is the flawless execution of the music montages. Best out of any show I have watched, especially the later seasons. They had an uncanny ability to pick the perfect song every time to match the events surrounding it.
Now I want to rewatch.

It's definitely not the show to try and watch as you fall asleep. Way too many connected story lines and twists.

It’s in German but there is English dubbing available. It’s worth giving the German a chance.

Yea I'm not watching it to fall asleep, it's literally just the reading that makes me sleepy. Foreign shows and reading a book is like a sleeping pill for me

I will say the S1 finale kept me lying awake in bed thinking about it after I turned the TV off though. That was a great season finale.

You’re going to be an insomniac by the end of the show.

O god now we’re in 1921. 100+ years if Tiedermans and Dopplers
