Holy shite. This show is absolutely fricking hilarious.

It’s absurdly great. Highly recommend it.

Netflix.

There's only 12 episodes and they are all 30 minutes or less.

Give it a chance. Like I said the episodes are really short, but it is hilarious.

It helps if you have some understanding of the N Ireland conflict especially in the 90s but not necessary.

what's the general premise of the show?

There really isn't a premise per se but:

Catholic High School girls (for the most part...) in Derry in the 90s, with the North Ireland armed conflict between Catholics and Protestants in the background.

It is mostly about this one group and their parents/family. Eccentric irish, and the hijinks they get into.

Each character, including the adults, are so well defined and unique in such a short amount of time it is pretty amazing.

By the time I got to the end of Season 1 I couldn't stop laughing.

(Just an FYI...I needed subtitles, but I always have problems with very thick irish or cockney english accents on TV and all the slang)

I watched with the subtitles on as well and it helped a lot.

This really is a hilarious show.

I feel like a lot of guys are missing out...they likely just think it's some silly chick show when it's really not.

And if you were a teenager in the 90s...you will especially love this show imo.

Yup. It is for the most part about the girls, but it is VERY far from a chick show. The adults for me are particularly hilarious.

Same. The grandfather cracks me up.

Also the mom....how upset she gets over the smallest thing (like the whole bowl incident in season 2)

Thanks for the recommendation! I watched the first 5-6 episodes last night with my 18 yo son. We both laughed our butts off.

It really is great.

It sucks that there are so few episodes and they are so short, but the focus on quality is definitely better.

Basically a lighter version of The Inbetweeners. And if you haven't seen The Inbetweeners series, go now and watch it!
