8 episode season around 30 minutes per. Apparently based on a video game. Self-contained, but sets up additional seasons.

Bad guy trying to tear down dimensional barrier between Hell and humanity. Lots of human v. demon battles/fights. In the mix are a brash young demon hunter with an interesting past as well as a a young female lieutenant of a shadowy paranormal defense agency.

If you like that sort of thing, it's entertaining.

Sounds familiar to another anime on Netflix.( Yeah, I know, demons in anime are so super rare, right?)

Don't know anything about this, but there's a 'Devilman cry' anime... is this the same thing?

Like I said, this one appear to be connected to a videogame, but there was a Japanese version back in 2007 (according to Google machine). That one is on Prime (<<< to rent).

I can't tell if it's going off of the PS2 games or just using the characters in a new story and setting because I don't see Trish in the cast/characters list on Wiki.

one DMC fan is not a fan - Screenrant

Some takeaways:

Animation shop that did Castlevania did this one. Looks good, but doesn't feel "unique"

Based on DMC 3 Manga, with some game elements thrown in to the point it's almost a different IP - especially its handling of Dante and Lady.

Doesn't care for the political undertones. Felt out of place.

I love Castlevania (anime), so I like the style. Since I dont know the game, I don't have a point of reference for comparison. I kinda get the last one, but it didn't turn me off.

Yeah there's just something about it that bugs me, it's like it has more in common with the stupid DmC reboot. And no Trish is a sin.
The anime from the 00s that took place after the first game is way better.

DevilMan Crybaby is a masterpiece. This is not.

Couldn't even finish the first episode. Modern writers are such trash.
