Dexter Season 4 Finale - The Getaway (SPOILERS)

Are we to assume that Arthur killed Rita? If so, when would he have done it? I'm sure this has been discussed before but I just caught up with the series and did not feel like looking for the old threads. The answer might be obvious but it seemed to me like there was more to it.
Can't wait for Sunday night.

I assume it happened right after Arthur picked up the refurb'd mustang.
I was wondering how Dexter took his oil cap off and was on the scene when his car broke down??

During the day sometime when he was out and about? I assume before he picked up the mustang. It's kinda a given so I don't think they needed to spell it out for us.

I figure that Dexter made it to the body shop before Arthur (and after the raid), removed the oil cap, then followed Arthur. Under this scenario, Arthur would have had to kill her before that. We never saw Arthur get Dexter's new address (Rita's place) though.
What gets me is why didn't Arthur even hint about this before Dexter claw-hammered him. It seems that a man who knows he is about to die would say something to get back at Dexter before Dexter offed him.

He said something like "its over" that when I watched a secind time seemed to hold meaning for both he and dexter.

After further thought, I think if Arthur would have come out and said something obvious then it would have ruined the surprise for the viewer. Also, I guess they gave us a context clue when Dexter tripped on the toy train tracks that were spread out on the floor at Rita's place. (Arthur may have been playing with them).

I was wondering if that actress wanted off of the show or something. Killing Rita just kind of seemed like an afterthought to me.

naw...that was to give the show more life.
She was clearly getting in the way of Dexters ability to do what he does.
Also, the storyline will give more depth and tangents for the charactes.

I Just finished watching this episode (first time) about 15 minutes ago.
Rita was a big suprise, did not see that coming (other than the fact that she is on a new show now)
My interpretation was that Arthur killed Rita prior to picking up the mustang.
Dexter had the Car Shop Reciept so he was hiding in the car (must have been trunk?) When it finally overheated / locked up he jumped out.
