Dexter Season 4 Question **Spoilers**

I'm currently watching Dexter for the first time and just finished season 4. I know I'm very late to the party. Great show and still holds up. My question is: how tf did the Trinity killer find out where Dexter lived and when did he have time to kill Rita? We saw that Dexter wasn't in the phonebook (sent him to Dexter's old apartment). Also, if Rita noticed she forgot her ID, wouldn't she have gone right back and have the cab driver wait for her? And another point, if Trinity killed Rita, wouldn't he have rubbed it in Dexter's face when he was about to meet his end at the hands of Dexter? I didn't like how they handled that whole situation. None of it made sense. And how did Dexter know what car Trinity was gonna rent at the Auto shop?
Anyways it is a fun show but I will miss Rita. She was a smokeshow.

You're at a great point in time to stop watching the show and pretend like this was the last season.

I watched through season 6 enjoyed both but not as good as 4.
I did not watch the last season (or was it 2) ?

Well that's disappointing to hear. I saw a fan page that listed the seasons in order from best to worst and season 7 was ranked 3rd. I heard it ended bad but figured just the final season (8) was bad.

Yep. By far the best season of the series and all downhill from there.

5 is a much, MUCH more logical stopping point if one were to choose to do so. Just bc 4 is the best season of the show doesn't mean it's automatically the best to end on.

You will be left feeling very unfulfilled and unresolved if you stop at 4, it's not really possible to watch 1-4 then just be like "ok, good show, I think I'm done here". First, 5 isn't all that bad. But more importantly it has a natural resolution/stopping point that actually makes logical sense to turn it off forever at that point and think "ok, good show, I think I'm done here". If you are going to stop early (which you probably should), stop at 5, not 4.
As for the seasons I would rank them like this:
4
1/2
3
5
I almost put 5 and 3 on the same tier but I have to give 3 the nod. Seasons 1 and 2 are excellent adn really draw you into the show, as I'm sure you can see. 3 takes a teeny step back I think but is still damn good and enjoyable. Some people really hate on 3 which I've never understood. I suppose when comparing 3 to 1/2/4 it isn't as good, which I agree with, but some people act like it's garbage which it isn't. 4 is obviously a masterpiece as you just witnessed. 5 has a bit of a different feel to it and isn't as good as the others, but it's still "pretty good". I would definitely recommend seeing this one through. Once you get to 6 it really starts to take a nosedive, although I guess you can find some decent spots in it. 7 is when it officially entered "this show sucks now, what happened?" territory, and 8 is just so insultingly bad I don't even want to mention it. I do believe (someone would have to look it up) that something happened wiht the writers at the tail end, like they wanted to do one thing but Showtime wanted to do somethign else and there was a major spat and the original writers/creators couldn't do what they envisioned and had to come up with the garbage we got. Whatever the reason though, garbage is garbage.

Unfortunately, Dexter: New Blood gave me hope and let me down also.

That's not what it was about for him. It was about the ritual.
