He did not show much sympathy and it is understandable since his son was in the hospital.

You might want to watch the show before asking questions. It’d be pretty helpful.

I watched it last night. He never admitted to killing the horse. Something that the writers let leave to your imagination.

I don't think he did, I think he just stopped giving a frick about her, and Tony was looking for any reason at all to rough up Ralph and accidentially killed him in the process.

Was Pie-O-My a who-uh? If so, Ralph probably killed her.

Personally, I think he did. He knew Tony loved the horse, and Tony basically came in and subtly wrestled the horse away from him. Plus Tony did the same thing with Ralph's girlfriend and Tony had just confessed this to him right before the horse incident.

Also, the way Ralphie always says whore sounds a lot like how he says horse which to me doesn't seem coincidental. Then there's the eggs Ralphie is cooking. Richie Aprile tries to feed Tony eggs not long before he is killed, Peppers and eggs is what Mickey Palmice ordered not long before he is killed. Not to mention, Ralphie's ex gf sets herself on fire making Tony eggs. When Tony and Jr. are talking and junior says something about the poor prick using all his lifelines on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the correct answer was eggs and its blinking on the screen. Do eggs symbolize a death omen, like oranges in GF? Do they symbolize going back to the womb or something? idfk, but interesting nonetheless, the show can be microanalyzed forever.

Edit: Now that I think of it, the entire show is full of these things, which may be part of what makes it great. The main one, besides the ending, is what happened to the Russian?

I’m doing my first ever watch of this show, and I saw the Pie-O-My episode like two episodes ago. Just watched the one where Tony belted the crap out of that city official for getting with his comaré

David Chase said that some Boy Scouts found him lying unconscious. He had a business card with his boss’ number on him, so they called him, and his boss took him to a hospital to get brain surgery

Pie-O-My was a money pit for Ralph and money became an issue with his son.

We know it was arson based on the classic light bulb/flammable liquid arson technique.

I am 99% Ralphie killed the horse, I don't find it remotely as ambiguous as the final scene.

good points. I also think Tony went to Ralph's house to kill him anyway. Especially given he killed tracy who Tony kept comparing to his daughter (juxtaposition of the life he created for his family and a product of a different lifestyle which he contributes to, like the strip club and all that shite).

Another question thats always bugged me is how tf did the psychic ghost guy know about Paulie's hit list? Only rational idea I can think of, besides him being a real ghost whisperer, is that Paulie's gumatta set it up with him to split the money.

You should listen to the Talking Sopranos podcast. Michael Imperioli has some insight on the symbolism, foreshadowing, etc that goes on throughout the show.

Also talks about how these unresolved storylines are not by accident... Like real life, we all have loose ends that we never tied up.

eta: to answer the original question, yeah I think at a minimum he gave the order to a guy in his crew to torch the place. Ralphie needed the insurance money

Do none of you doubters recall the fight between Tony and Ralph where Ralph all but said he killed her?

That's the great thing about the entire show. It gives you enough clues and hints to everything but doesn't flat out say THIS is what happened.

The psychic was for sure legit (which is actually kinda cool). No one could have known that information he was saying. Sonny Charles Pogano. Mikey Palmice mentioning the poison ivy and asking if it still itches. That's easily a top 2-3 scene for me for the entire series. That and the intervention are the tops.

Back in the spirit of this thread as intended... in my mind Ralph for certain killed Pie-O-My by arson fire, although he emphatically declared to Tony he did not. It's intentionally left unanswered and up for debate. And "SO WHAT... it was a fricking animal!!"
