Vaughn has joked in interviews that he "forgot he was in Rudy" b/c they basically cut him out (I think this was in the Swingers DVS extras). He originally had a large role and his character was a big part of the story but after filming, his scenes were cut in editing.

Rudy's definitely not a priest, he came talk to my high school once. He was the one who shopped his own life story around for 20 years to Hollywood so apparently he is really humble.
