Most unbelievable part of the movie. Even if his teammates thought he was Hitler they would've gone to his party because the hoes would've been deep in there.

He had a lot of fun with his friends, who were mostly tech bros.

In the NFL he had mixed results his first 2 years, but then struggled to get offensive lineman to want to come to Seattle and block for his arse. All the sacks began to take its toll.

The Browns dodged a bullet but still struggled as Mack was a dime a dozen linebacker and the RB they drafted at #7 was frequently injured and only 0.1 YPC better than an UDFA. They were good enough to make the playoffs twice as Wild Card, thanks to some fluke wins provided by their new star punt returner, but that level of mediocrity got Sonny fired anyway.

How did Brian Drew (aka the slightly better looking version of Derek Carr) do?

There was a thread on this last year, so I'll just copy and paste what I wrote in that thread:

quote:

The Rewatchables podcast did an episode on Draft Day that was great. Basically Simmons and Mallory Rubin breaking down all the nonsensical things about this movie.

- Roger Goodell getting cheered at the draft
- Costner’s character didn’t know anything about anything and had apparently done zero research before the draft
- Costner just did shite on the fly, didn’t really think things over, and also never consulted anyone on any of the moves
- NFL teams following the lead of the Browns when they don’t draft Callahan. Some team picking between 2 and 6 would’ve jumped all over Callahan after the Browns passed
- NFL GMs being overly tense with each other
- To your point, nobody had watched game tape of OSU-Wisconsin? And also, Mack’s suspension leading to Wisconsin ultimately winning the game would’ve led SportsCenter and been the talk of college football for weeks, yet they’re acting like this was a Division II game with 2,000 people in the stands.
- taking BOTH a MLB and a tailback in the top 10 is a terrible move, and not something fans would be cheering.
- if Bo Callahan was an a-hole and had no friends on the team, that would’ve been found out in pre-draft research by someone.

However, one area where this movie did hit the nail on the head —albeit completely unintentionally — was in how NFL GMs and front office personnel (specifically in the poorly run franchises) are notorious for talking themselves out of or into players for the dumbest reasons the closer they get to draft day. How many times have we heard stuff like “great interview,” “had a firm handshake,” “said yes sir and no sir” as well as stuff like “wore sunglasses to the interview” and “didn’t call me sir” thrown around as reasons teams move played up or down their draft boards? So in reality, the birthday party and $100 bill knocks on Bo Callahan are completely on brand for the NFL.
