This isn't an exhaustive list, but for those of you who are looking for quality films about the September 11 attacks, here are a few that I would recommend watching:
United 93 (2006) - Directed by Paul Greengrass in a film that saw him get nominated for an Oscar for Best Director, this is the definitive film about 9/11 to have been produced thus far.
The Hamburg Cell (2004) - A British-Canadian TV movie based on the 9/11 Commission Report, this film chronicles the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack from their recruitment by Al-Qaeda in Germany to the day they launched their attack on America.
The Path to 9/11 (2006) - A two-part ABC movie that premiered just in time for the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, this miniseries was also based on the 9/11 Commission Report and starred Harvey Keitel as FBI counterterrorism agent John O'Neill as he chased Al-Qaeda terrorists such as Ramzi Yousef and Osama Bin Laden for the better part of a decade. Good luck finding the film, however, Hillary Clinton was able to get it perma-banned by ABC due to how it chronicles Clinton's approach to Islamic terrorism during the 1990s.
The Looming Tower (2018) - Essentially a more mature version of The Path to 9/11. Jeff Daniels plays FBI counterterrorism agent John O'Neill as he hunts Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda during the late-90s. You can find this miniseries on Hulu.
World Trade Center (2006) - In what is arguably Oliver Stone's last good film since the release of Nixon in 1994, Nicholas Cage and Michael Peña play New York City Port Authority police officers John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, two of the last survivors to be pulled out of the rubble of the towers.

Boatlift: "An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience"

quote:
One of the most notable acts of valor that occurred on September 11, 2001 was the maritime evacuation of Lower Manhattan – the largest water evacuation in American history.
500,000 people were transported to safety in approximately nine hours by hundreds of vessels that answered a call from the U.S. Coast Guard to converge on New York Harbor to aid in the evacuation.

Not necessarily in that same genre, but Reign Over Me was a fantastic film

Not a film, but there's a six episode one on Disney+. I think it's called the day of 9/11, it's something like that.
I watched it last week, and it had a lot of footage I'd never seen before. I think it was made in 2021 so I whiffed on it before.
It was really really good. Super sad, but really well done.

not a feature but the documentary "9/11" by two french brothers who for one reason or another were making a documentary about the life of a novice NY fire fighter. they were given the station that i believe was the closest station to the WTC towers and went with the station on that day to check out a gas leak nearby. the rest is history
its a pretty historically significant documentary as its my understanding that to this day, its the only piece of video that we have of the first plane slamming into the first tower, done while they were checking out the gas leak, and i believe its also the only public video that we have of firefighters in the first tower
so basically any time you see a snip of the NYFD commanders in the lobby of the tower, that is from their documentary.

Thank you for this topic. For some reason, this year, I felt like there was less chatter about 9/11 than in past years. At work, I don't think I heard one person mention what day it was. Even on this site there were less threads than normal. Tonight I'll be watching United 93 for the first time since I saw it in theaters.

There's a scene from there where they cut all music off that transitions to the jumpers. They zoom in on one guy falling and follow him all the way down. I haven't seen that particular clip before and it goes right into the loud bangs of everyone crashing down.
Haunting sounds to this day.

Spike Lee's 25th Hour used 9/11 as a backdrop for some of the major plot points, not sure if that counts

I was actually going to mention this, so i'm glad someone did. I dont even like Spike Lee, but the 25th Hour is a great movie, and it really seems to capture that "not that long after 9/11" vibe.

Just watched this today. Never seen it before and it was really well done. I still find it difficult to watch videos/movies and read about 9/11
