This is the upcoming anime film that Jackson is executive producing that comes out December 13th. My initial thought is it looks a little too Sailor Moon for me, but I may be wrong.

The new story is set nearly 200 years before Bilbo Baggins comes into contact with the ring of power, and centers on the House of Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan (voiced by Brian Cox), with a focus on his daughter, the strong willed Princess Héra (voiced by Gaia Wise). In the clip, a dispute erupts during a council meeting, leaving Wulf, a ruthless Dunlending lord, seeking vengeance. Miranda Otto reprises her “Lord of the Rings” role as Éowyn, this time as the movie’s narrator.

Boyens and screenwriter Phoebe Gittins expanded on Tolkien’s original story. In particular, they wanted to give a certain character her own name. (uh oh)
“In the appendices where the story is drawn from, we get these quite interestingly drawn male characters, and then we get this young female character who is never named — and that was really interesting to me,” Boyens says. “We know Helm has a daughter, and we know that she was central to the conflict that happened. But myself, and especially screenwriter Phoebe Gittins, were drawn to her. We could feel the weight of being that unnamed daughter, which immediately piqued our interest: Who was she? How did she live?”

Hèra might have her match, though, in the film’s antagonist. Wulf, voiced by Luke Pasqualino, is leading the armies of Dunlendings against Helm’s kingdom. “We have an exceptionally great antagonist in this story,” Boyens says. “He's been one of my favorite antagonists to have written across all of the films I've worked on.”

It just never ends.

Don’t think I like the animation style

I don't either. Looks too much like Japanese manga.

Fwiw, it's an anime film.

I think this bombs badly
Once people figure out it’s animated they won’t be interested at all

Agreed. I think they should have reached out to Cartoon Saloon to do this project, since their animation is stunning and looks how you’d imagine Tolkien animated should look. If they were to do an animated Lord of the Rings, these are the guys they should reach out to. Trailer for the Irish Folklore Trilogy along with some of the more stunning images:

Yeah I think we are all in agreeance about the animation style being meh or a dealbreaker

It should have been done in the style of the Castlevania animated shows.

That would have been my choice as well. Blood of Zeus was also in that style but I haven’t watched season 2 yet.

That looks like the Powerpuff Girls if it was directed by Wes Anderson.
I was pretty excited about this, but the style looks too dime-a-dozen to me. The girl boss storyline isn't helping much either.

No, the animation style is if it’s ripped out of a children’s storybook. Don’t see much it has in common with the Powerpuff Girls.

Looks fine, but not what I was expecting.

Yeah I mean that’s pretty epic but probably not realistic to animate something like that

I'm wondering if that 1st image will be some sort of flashback or story book imagery of days in the past. Maybe a lead into when Eowyn (Miranda Otto) is retelling the story of King Helm Hammerhand, then it fades into 'current day' which is the animation style we see later on.
