Friday Night Lights Fans: I met Buddy Garrity at the Airport Saturday

I was standing in line to go through security and Brad Leland (Buddy Garrity) was standing right next to me. I talked to him for a few minutes and he was a really cool dude. His mannerisms in real life are exactly like the character of Buddy.
He actually had to go into the little timeout box and get searched because he kept beeping through security. as I walked by him again I told him "I guess there is no star treatment in Dallas Texas"
He said "This is what happens every time when you have an artifical knee"! He was a lot calmer about the situation that Buddy would have been.
It was really cool to meet one of my favorite TV characters of all time.

Lol. he was a lot bigger guy than I thought he was. Probably 6'4" and 240-250 pounds.
He was by himself wearing jeans, crocks and an untucked Golf shirt and wayfairer sun glasses. He took the glasses off when he and I where talking. Very cool dude.

I love Buddy.
To me, he is the most real, authentic character on that series. He's flawed, and annoying, but his heart is in the right place usually. He's not a stock character by no means.
He did an awesome job in that role.

I would like to have sex with your daughter.
That's what I would have told him.

i was thinking about this after the last episode i watched (the one where buddy jr comes home).
i think the most interesting thing about his character is he was all about dillon, then we they turned their back on the coach, and then in turn him, he became all about east. and his situation really reflected the school he cheered for so he went from successful car dealer supporting golden boy school to having nothing, pulling for east.
but overall his realationship to coach taylor is a fun one to watch cuz eric gets to the point where he would do anything for buddy. good stuff.

Very well said. And the part about he and Coach...spot on. Great dynamics there, and fun while watching that develop from Season 1 to 5.
Also...who plays Buddy Jr. I tried looking him up, but I swear he must be Brad Leland's real life son. The similarities are incredible.

haha, I wanted to ask him if that kid was his son in real life, but I looked it up on his bio and he has two daughters in real life and no sons are listed and the kid has a different last name. Just good casting.
Turns out Brad Leland was a state champion football player for Plano high school back in 1972. he looks like he could have played D Line.

That's great that you got to meet him. I really like his character on FNL. Totally flawed, but human, and more likeable every season. I think he's done an excellent job and has become someone you actually want to root for as opposed to being a one dimensional loser who only wanted to relive his high school glory days.

Yep, his character arch is a great one and so is that of billy riggins. I think those actors did such a great job that they basically had to write bigger more interesting archs for them.
I would imagine Brad Leland starts getting some pretty good character roles in movies and dramas.
