Set your DVR. Two episodes air the first night.
From Wikipedia:
The season is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019. It stars Juno Temple as Dorothy "Dot" Lyon, a seemingly typical Midwestern housewife living in Scandia, Minnesota, whose mysterious past comes back to haunt her after she lands in hot water with the authorities. Jon Hamm also stars as North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman, who has been searching for Dot for a long time. Other cast members include Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lorraine Lyon, Dot's wealthy but stern mother-in-law, Joe Keery as Gator Tillman, Roy's loyal son, Lamorne Morris as Deputy Witt Farr, and Sam Spruell as Ole Munch, a mysterious drifter whom Roy employs to help track Dot down.

This show hasn’t been on my radar, but for some reason I’m really wanting to see this season.
How were the first few? Worth starting from scratch?

Season 1 is brilliant. Season 2 started off really well but got a bit convoluted and over the top and didn't quite stick the landing. Season 3 was very good but definitely behind 1 and probably 2. Season 4 was not good at all. Definitely watch 1. If you like it, watch 2 and 3 and skip 4.

Agreed. Thanks to the OP for the reminder.

Season 1 is one of the very best seasons of any show in the extensive FX catalogue. All seasons are standalone stories set in the Midwest and it starts out super strong

Season 1 is my favorite season of television of all time

As stated above. Season 4 is crap. All others are worth watching.

Billy Bob Thornton is by all accounts a huge douchebag, but got to give the dude his due - he's incredible in the first season.. especially the elevator scene

I think season 2 was better than season 1
And season 1 was great

I'd rank the show's seasons as follows:
1
2
3
4
1
2
3
4

I couldn’t finish the mess that was season 4. Seasons 1 and 2 are in a different level.

Bump...because it's finally here.

I catch hell on here alot for my comments on this, but S1 of Fargo was better than True Detective S1 and the best show that came out that year.
S2 was amazing too. Mike Milligan FTW!

I definitely disagree but S1 of Fargo was very good. Never got around to watching the other seasons as it being a spin off of a movie I figured it would get really drawn out. Will have to check out season 2

I sometimes refer to Season 2 as the best season of TV I've ever watched. Season 1 was really good too.
3 and 4 are more meh.

Has anybody watched the first 2 episodes yet? I saw a review stating that season 5 brings “Fargo into the Trump years”.. I’m praying this show isn’t jumping into modern day politics now as a storyline.

They absolutely are. The earliest details about the season all mentioned George Floyd tomfoolery. S3 suffered a moderate quality dip from S1/S2, and S4 had a pretty big drop from S3. That + politics has my expectations low. I'm waiting for the season to finish and will binge if this board ends up liking it.
