Hyman Roth is too old. Based on the timeline, he shouldn't have been much past sixty, if that.

The events in Havana take place in 1959. Hyman first appears in 1917 when Vito hires him to fix a truck. Hyman is in his late teens or early twenties then. Even allowing for considerable margin for error, Hyman is younger than 70. He shouldn't look that old and frail, even with serious health problems.

They do mention that he's "been dying of the same heart attack for twenty years". Maybe that's part of the aged look?

shite, back up until the 1970s, a lot of people past 50 years old looked fricking OLD and were sick with all kinds of shite we can stave off today. Heart attacks were nearly always debilitating, and people died of "hardening of the arteries" that cholesterol meds take care of today.

Hyman Roth was 67 in 1959. Look at his birthday cake that got passed around at his party. That would make him born in 1892 and 25 y.o. in 1917.

heart attack

No matter the advances in medicine even today, a good sized heart attack adds 10-15 years to you.

Guy I used to work with had a heart attack when he was around 60-ish. He was still pretty youthful and you would not have known he was close to retirement age. After his heart attack, he looked frickin' 75 or 80.

Just sayin...

Moe Green's death added a few wrinkles as well.

Hyman's schtick was that he was a harmless old man. He played up his age as a defense, from the media, the INS etc......

Michael ultimately realized that Hyman thought he would live forever.......much to Hyman's chagrine.
