This is a movie about two guys who love to do drugs and, while high, develop a craving for a certain fast food burger. On their journey to get these burgers they do more and more drugs. This only makes them happier. One of them even has a dream where he marries a bag of marijuana. In the end, they set out to get more drugs. I'd say these two young men have a problem. But drugs only seem to add fun and adventure to these guys so why not? I didn't find most of this movie to be funny. Potty humor, gay jokes, and racist jokes aren't what I call entertainment.

For instance I think it's funny to read in a screenplay "and Doogie Howser steals a car". But to watch it on the screen, you say so what? There is potential comedy there but no payoff. I'll bet they had a lot of fun making this movie, but probably gasped when they saw the final product.

Being an Asian immigrant who likes to occasionally eat at White Castle, I was interested in seeing this film. It turned out to be worse than I could have imagined. The movie is about drugs, drugs and more drugs and there is nothing funny about it. White Castle hamburgers make an appearance at the end but mostly it is drugs the Asian characters want. They smoke marijuana all the time which is not like any Asians I know. The white people in the movie are always calling Asians names but that is not like any white people I know either. In the real world, it is only the Black and Spanish that have called me names because I am Asian. I would only recommend this movie if you think it is funny to watch Asian people smoke marijuana.

37 White Castle burgers. The equivilent of a 1 and 1/2 Whoppers to split between them.

They saw a damn Burger King in the beginning of the movie. It would have been a whole lot cheaper and tastier to just have gone there and saved an [backside] load of money as well.

How can a movie go wrong with Neil Patrick Harris? Here is how it could happen. My main gripe with the film is the acting of Kal Penn, Kumar, it is cool that he is trying to be laidback and nonchalant versus John Cho's more stiff character of Harold, but it comes off as being too "cool," very wooden, and affected making much of the film's comedy to come off as being rather bland.

Has anyone noticed that while women have advanced in dramas they are probably worse off than ever in commedies? Little more than playthings or opponents for men in virtually EVERY modern commedy, from Harold and Kumar to 40 Year Old Virgin, Beerfest, etc. I think women were stronger characters and got better lines in the old screwball commedies of the 1930s!!!

Finally, I need to bring up the production values again, especially near the end of the film where it became apparent that money had run dry and the green-screen effect needed to be used and abused. You could tell that you were on a set and not actually following two twenty-something on their adventure. This completely ruined my sense of fun for this film. With a nine million-dollar budget, could they not get actual shots of these two driving in a real car? To me, we moved past that technique in the early 60s, and we do not need to repeat it for this feature. I felt cheated watching this film, wondering where my money and Hollywood's money went, thinking that perhaps the director is lighting his own weed with $100 bills while enjoying his free samples from White Castle since they used the name in the film. Cheapened production values is what soured this film for me.
