Plot
Following a camping trip in the nearby Cascade mountains, George Henderson drives home to suburban Seattle with his family when he hits a Bigfoot with his station wagon. Believing it to be dead and the key to fame and fortune, the family straps the creature to the roof of their car. A lone hunter tracking the creature discovers the Hendersons' damaged license plate.
That night, George goes to the garage to examine the Bigfoot and discovers it was alive and has escaped. He finds the creature in the kitchen, having knocked over the refrigerator while looking for food. The family soon realizes that the creature is intelligent and friendly.

I use to rewind the VHS to watch the bigfoots (bigfeet?) emerge from their camouflage hiding spaces at the end of the movie.

I had this on VHS as a kid and wore that tape out. I absolutely loved it as a kid.
About six months ago I watched it with my then three year old. He absolutely loved it as well. And I was impressed with how well it holds up.
And the animatronics on Harry’s face arse incredible. It’s completely realistic looking.
Great movie.

Now he would be some CGI monstrosity.

What more can you ask from a movie?

Loved that movie.
Once my old man hit a possum with the car and I said “I bet its guts and eyeballs are hanging off the bumper!” Cracked him up.

As a kid I always wondered how the hell George got Harry up on to the top of his station wagon. We had VHS of the movie that we'd recorded from TV. You had to fast forward commercials. I streamed the movie a couple of years back and was really satisfied that they showed how he managed to get Harry up there. I guess that part was cut out to save time on cable.
It's an awesome movie, my siblings and I still quote it. I can't use my electric fillet knife without thinking of the neighbor lady threatening Jacques with it.

Seattle was a different place in that movie than it is now.
