I get a kick out of these ads. As a boomer, I guess I'm guilty as charged in many cases. Here's a sample ad:
Have you become your parents?

Love these commercials. And I do see myself a lot as becoming my Mom and Dad, especially with cooking and cleaning. They really make a lasting impact.

It's crazy how almost every single one of these is my dad.
The one with the guy who wont throw away spare wood scraps is my dad 100%

Absolutely this.
I need more of these commercials to bring back the funny memories.

The striking up conversations with random people is me exactly. " oh I see you are from Nebraska "

As far as my 66 year old arse is concerned Dr. Rick should be cut by DOGE, because we don't need him. When you get old, you realize your parents were right to always want to know where you were and what going on in the neighborhood.
The cool parents some of your friends had were the dummies. Most of them were smokers who died way before my parents did.
If you're not turning into your parents you never grew up.

Haha since we are pretend land I doubt Doge could do this. He might have his own practice and they were paying for his service by the kids or friends or something.

I guess I'm that person that will strike up a conversation with strangers when out and about. I also have a hard time throwing stuff that I'll never use again out somehow thinking it will be needed again.

Here's a contrary opinion.*
Rick is a smug prick.
Me being friendly doesn't mean I am turning into my parents you jackass.
*I am 60 and turned into my parents a few decades ago.

Drives my college age daughter (no pics) bananas when I will say hello or how are you to complete strangers walking down the street or in lobbies. I doubt seriously the earbud/face in phone generation will do this in the future.

Rick is a smug prick.
the actor absolutely nails the “i’m trying to help these people but i cant stand dealing with them, and i’m not good at hiding my contempt and resentment” vibe
