House of the Dragon - Time jumps (No Spoilers)

I am 8 episodes into this one...seems like the time jumps will limit how many seasons they can get out of this batch of people. Has there been talk of this being a one off series?
Time jumps have me not really giving a frick about any of the characters too.

This isn't the show for you if you don't like any of the characters, it has been fantastic.

Who do you genuinely care about?
Viserys seems decent
Daemon is a POS but at least he's interesting
Aemond seems like he has the makings of an interesting bad guy
Everyone else sort of sucks

I found them incredibly distracting, especially with the swapping of actresses. Once you get past that and used to the new ones then it flows better.
This show is an example of sub par filmmaking and production paired with good writing (for the most part) and interesting story development. It made me appreciate what DnD did with the first 5 seasons of GOT, because they were excellent producers. They just sucked at story telling, which showed after they passed up the books. If they were showrunners on this one but allowing Martin to oversee the story and writing the this show would have been so much better.
It's a good enough show, but it is very flawed.

The showrunners have said the current plan is for the show to run three or four seasons.
Article that mentions how long it'll run but there will be spoilers if you haven't finished S1.

I assume it was something similar to leprosy, but I don't know if that exists in their world.

I would ask why are you getting down voted for speaking the truth but there are posters here who think this show does no wrong. It has plot holes and pacing issues but don't tell them that. It's not a bad show, but is flawed as you say.

Part of the lore of the Iron Throne is that it rejects those that aren't fit to rule. Maegor was possibly killed by the the Throne, the Mad King was all cut up from the Throne. There are other accounts about the Throne hurting other kings too. I like Visery's a lot and he was actually a good king, but he wasn't a strong ruler. The Throne was rejecting him IMO, what the disease was, I don't know.

yep, it became mostly unwatchable for me for that reason alone, one scene a child is born, come back after a commercial break and the child is now 30 yrs old and getting married or becoming the new queen.
it matters not how careful you are to never miss a second of anything and you are still lost trying to follow and unfollowable story line jumping 15-20 years ahead constantly

Another issue with the time jumps is that:
Rhaenarya
Aemond
Lucerus
Laenor
Laena
Viserys
All very aged by time jumps
Alicent - aged very slightly ( I realize it is a different actress...she just looks like a slightly older version of the young Alicent)
Otto
Daemon
Corlys
No aging at all

Oddly enough, I am also through 8 episodes of the show as of last night.
I don't mind time jumps, but it does seem like they are cramming as many into this season as they can. So it's definitely a little distracting. And it does make me care a little bit less about certain characters. It also make things fairly confusing when trying to keep up with the characters and who is whom. Not sure why that sentiment is getting so many downvotes in this thread.
That being said, I do really like the show though. I was hesitant at first, but it's pretty damn good. I'm pumped to see what the last two episodes bring.

Maybe you are, others were able to follow along just fine

The whole first season spans 20 years, where were they jumping ahead 20 years constantly?

I knew there were time jumps coming so I paid attention...they go out of their way to use the new actors name immediately to let you know its them
My big takeaway is that it seems like to continue a HotD show they will have to jump time to a whole new generation...eventually getting us to Daenerys' story
ETA: People downvote on this site if your comment isn't completely aligned with their thought

Once it's finished, you don't really see a need for another time jump. I think things can take off from there. I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem necessary as the storyline seems to be in place.

Yeah I guess I need to watch the last two before making that comment.

It was definitely a bit odd because characters changed actors at diff times, and some did not at all. And the ones that didnt change didnt really age at all except viserys. And they aged him really rapidly.

I got panned in another thread but a lot the characters completely flip-flopped in personality and motives with the time jumps. I get that people change with age, but it takes you out of the story when this happens. Rhaenyra kinda sucked and Alicent was great and then it flipped. Now I don't care for either. Hard to like a show when you can't pull for any sides. At least for me it is.

This sounds more like a you (IQ) problem.
