Is it because..Hollywood? is this considered 'art'?

seriously; here's the parental guide. someone please help me out here and understand how every single person involved in producing this and the audience who is viewing/has viewed this movie hasn't/isn't engaged in child porn.

how does hollywood always get a pass on the perverse shite they peddle?

quote:

Violet and the photographer (Bellocq) are standing outside the open bathroom door whilst Hattie (Violet's mother) bathes (her left breast and nipple plus her bare buttocks are briefly seen). She sits down onto the edge of the cast iron bath tub.

After being auctioned off as a virgin the 10 year old main character is scene with the winning man she asks him to be gentle and after it cuts away we see two little girls outside to Room listening to her screams, women come in to see if she is ok shortly after he leaves and she is seen with tears down her face and smudged lipstick it's also implied it's too painful in certain areas to move but she laughs regardless.

Before being auctioned off, the 10 year old main character is going over what she must do with older prostitutes, they tell her to scream at first but then pretend to enjoy it, another young girl suggests to touch him "down there" during the auction lots of disgusting comments are made about the child and we see a crowd of very old men and middle aged men bidding.

The main character is not only a minor in the movie but also in real life and yet she is seen fully naked at multiple points, private parts, behind and chest all exposed in some scenes. She also has lots of implied sex with far older men and real onscreen kisses and touching with them.

The main character is Violet, a 12 year old child prostitute played by Brooke Shields.

After implied sex with a grown man, Violet is seen lying face down on a bed, with her dress only covering her lower half (her nipple is seen briefly during commotion after waking up).

A man and woman walk in on Violet as she bathes (her flat chest and nipples are seen). She stands up, turns to face them, and covers herself with a towel, but the woman takes it away (full screen version only - when she stands, her bare genitals are briefly seen, including her bare buttocks).

Violet is seen lying naked on a daybed to be photographed by a man (we see her flat chest and nipples along with her bare pubic region). She soon gets up and causes trouble, and is thrown out of the room by the man (we see her flat chest and nipples throughout, as well as her bare buttocks at great length; full screen version - during the shot where she sits up on the daybed, we accidentally see a glimpse of white panties no doubt for modesty sake during filming; when she is causing trouble, she is wearing a very thin skin colored thong).

We see a naked man and woman sleeping on a bed, and Violet tickles the woman's face (though the woman is covered up, we briefly see the woman's breasts during the commotion of her waking up; we see no nudity from the man).

A woman sitting on a couch exposes her breasts for a man to photograph her while Violet is sitting near her the entire time (we see the woman's bare breasts at great length).

These folks gave a pedo a standing ovation.

quote:

On 9 January 2017, the day after after Meryl Streep delivered a speech critical of President-elect Donald Trump as she was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the annual Golden Globes ceremony, an image purportedly showing the actress cheering for director Roman Polanski — who fled the United States in the 1970s to avoid imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor — at the Academy Awards ceremonies in 2003 was circulated on social media:

So sure…”art”. Or something.

It's not even the only bananas inappropriate film starring Brooke Shields from that same era (i.e. Blue Lagoon), although Pretty Baby was one of the most eyebrow-raising of the higher profile films.

Obviously, Taxi Driver had similar issues. Heck, even going back to artsy, Romeo and Juliet (1968). The young leading actors (Whiting and Hussey) have spoken out about feeling at the very least exploited, perhaps with the benefit of hindsight.

Hell, I believe them.

At least they used a 32 year old for the nude scenes.

I'm assuming that it's not streaming and you'd have to order the DVD with the bonus features including your name being added to government watch-lists.

Bankrolled by Hugh Hefner and Playboy magazine, which also sponsored satanic-themed pornos and other similar films.

The late 70's were fricking disgusting. Pretty Baby is just one small example.

Also Playboy posted stills from the movie.
Making Brioke Shiekds the youngest person ever pictured nude in playboy. Also her nudity while it is child p is still available.

Brooke and I are near the same age. I didn't see Pretty Baby as my 16 year old self wasn't interested in that movie. But as a teen, I thought Blue Lagoon (and later Endless Love) were awesome.

People who weren't alive in the 70s and 80s truly have a hard time relating to the things that were considered ok then. Pretty Baby was controversial, but lots of other messed up shite was just fine.

The interesting thing is that daily, on TD, I see men that I feel are longing for the 70s again.

And 17 yr. old Michelle Johnson who played Michael Cain's love interest in "Blame It On Rio". Both she and Demi Moore were in that flick, although Moore hadn't had any boob jobs at that time and was rather flat chested with very minimal scenes with the well endowed Johnson around.

This movie is and has always been considered fricked up. No one has been giving it a pass for the past 40+ years. And how do you mean "in circulation?" You have to work to watch it.

It wasn't bankrolled by playboy, as someone said. It was written and produced by Polly Platt, who envisioned it as a commentary on the disgusting power dynamics of the time. This wasn't a celebration of shite like Polanski, it was a rebuke. They screwed up casting Shields and the circus that came with her (and her mom).

It didn't work out this way, but this was trying to be the film that many people think Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut was.

That makes it more forgivable than stuff like The Blue Lagoon, and later Blame It on Rio. Those films wother suggested or graphically showed underage nudity only as a means to titilate. Pretty Baby was meant to infuriate and disgust.

Financed at least in part, yes it was, and they promoted it in their magazine

Doesn't mean she paid for it.

No, they screwed up by making a movie featuring a naked 12 year old. It is irrelevant to say that people have always been disgusted by it. The fact that it existed at all is a testament to how fricked up the times were and how much of a bunch of total degenerates showbiz people always have been.

The rest of your bullshite is just the 'artistic' excuse. The truth is that if this movie were made in the 50's, everyone involved with producing it would have feared for their lives. But not while the social rot iron was hot in the late 70's though. I wonder why.

I was alive in the 80s and don’t want to see little girls being abused by men.

Private Lessons is a movie that gave me the creeps. Old people like me probably remember it.

Young rich kid falls for his maid. Mrs Mello I believe. Lots of sex scenes with them and he looked like he was 10 years old
