The 70mm tickets went on sale at midnight. Indianapolis 70mm went on sale at 8am.

Just a heads up for anybody hoping to catch Nolan’s masterpiece in a real 70mm IMAX. There will also be digital IMAX showings but I wouldn’t expect them to be in such high demand compared to 70mm. The re-release starts the weekend of 12/6.

There is a no word yet on what time tomorrow the tickets go on sale. Could be midnight tonight, 8am, or some completely random time. I’ll try to update as soon as a time is known.

List of 70mm Screens showing Interstellar (this does not include Digital IMAX):

Dallas, TX - Cinemark Dallas & IMAX
Fort Lauderdale, FL - AutoNation IMAX, Museum of Discovery & Science
Indianapolis, IN - IMAX, Indiana State Museum
Irvine, CA - Regal Edwards Irvine Spectrum & IMAX
New York, NY - AMC Lincoln Square 13 & IMAX
San Francisco, CA - AMC Metreon 16 & IMAX
Tempe, AZ - Harkins Arizona Mills 25 & IMAX
Universal City, CA - Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood & IMAX
Regina, SK - Kramer IMAX, Saskatchewan Science Centre
Vaughan, ON - Cineplex Cinemas Vaughan & IMAX

There are a handful of 'perfect' scenes in cinematography and I consider that to be one of them. The pacing, the action, the score..... all perfect.

Agreed. Probably my favorite scene in film.

Think I’ll watch it a dozen times and listen to the soundtrack for the rest of the day. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is no time for caution.

Anybody idea how many days it will run? Closest theater to me is 8 hours.

The theaters listed are for IMAX 70mm film projectors. It will also be showing at digital IMAX screens that most cities have. That list has not been published yet.

I would imagine it plays for a week. The Sony Kraven the Hunter movie will take over IMAX screens starting the 13th

If I could see one movie in The Sphere, it would be this one.
No telling how much it would cost to convert 70mm to the appropriate digital format, if it could be done at all without busting aspect ratios.

Damn...I thought this would be more widely available. I planned on taking my son, but it looks like Birmingham, AL won't have it. Not even Atlanta or Nashville.

i'd like to go again, but i just had a kid so it won't be happening. maybe when he's older and hoping the theater still has a 70mm projector operator. the dude they have is on the verge of retirement... gotta be.

Don’t give up hope. This is from the official IMAX email.

As of now, there is no list of the 40 digital screens or when the tickets will go on sale. It’s ridiculous how this re-release has been handled. It was originally planned for September before the delay to December.

I saw Oppenheimer in Indy and the whole drive back I was thinking how much cooler Interstellar would be in that format compared to Cillian Murphy’s pores.

Oh my bad, the gif apparently didn't load properly the first time I opened the thread.

Seeing that movie in 70mm IMAX would be pretty cool. I never saw it on the big screen period. Definitely a good movie for IMAX.

Showing nowhere close to me in NC.

I mean, I saw it in the Philadelphia IMAX planetarium, so I think they could probably just pull that feed and do it.

just found this video on YouTube. for those that haven't seen the movie, don't watch the video, but based on the crowd reactions, Nolan missed out on making this a Universal Studios ride.
