Is Lost worth watching?

I know I'm years behind (I finally just finished The Wire and The Sopranos)
Curious if Lost is even worth watching. I admittedly thought all along that it was a legit stranded on an island survival show and didn't know about all the sci-fi, maybe/maybe not real life, etc.
I've watched 3-4 episodes and I'm still on the fence. Is it worth following through with? Also, if something happens to the dog I'm gonna be pissed.

No. I watched it years ago.
I'd now rather scrub a toilet.

It's not worth finishing. The first season is fantastic, and I was a fan of season two as well, but the ending was so bad that it pretty much ruined it for me. Had I known the ending, I wouldn't have watched it. but there's nothing wrong with finishing it, plenty of people like it.
I'd recommend watching Lindelofs much better show instead, The Leftovers on HBO. One of the greatest shows of all time. All three seasons were fantastic and had a very good ending. I re-watch it pretty much every year.

Go for it. It’s one of the most exciting shows ever made. Granted you’ll be missing out on half the fun of theorizing on message boards and going back and forth with one another. The ending is divisive but it is nowhere near the dumpster fire that the end of Game of Thrones was.

Not even close to the two series you just completed. So understand that should you continue.

Some of the best dialogue and character creation ever written.
They are masters of pulling your heart strings and getting you invested in the fate of the characters.
But the WAY over use the trick of throwing in weird curveballs that make NO sense, with promises that "all will be revealed" in future episodes.
And they wrote the book on answering one question with three more.
ANd in the end, they shite the bed, leaving really significant plot holes left unfilled.
They tug the shite out of your heartstrings one last time, and leave you with a sneaking feeling that there's a lot of stuff they promised to answer, and didn't.
And after some time, and a little research, you discover that all along, there was no "grand vision", and that they were just making up shite that became more outlandish and implausible with each plot hole, to cover up the streaming pile they were squirting out all along.

Yes, without question.
Understand that it is pre-streaming so there are a lot of filler episodes, and its one of the shows that is largely bringing serialized TV back.
Its a great but flawed show.

One of my favorite shows of all time. If you can’t live with some things left unexplained, then skip it.

I binged it after it had finished its live run so I had a general idea of what the twist ending was. But that didn't stop my enjoyment of the show. There are some good characters, the action is driven by factions among the survivors as well as some mysteries they have to figure out along the way which aren't really the same as the twist at the end. This is a show where the journey was enjoyable even if you know where things might end up.

I’ll tell you the difference between this and the end of Game of Thrones. At the end of LOST what were people bitching about: the answers. It didn’t go the way they want, and some of the mysteries that some of the fans are bitching about weren’t answered actually were answered, some on multiple occasions.
What were people bitching about at the end of Game of Thrones: the characters. Save for perhaps Jorah and the Hound, none of them got satisfactory character arcs in the ending and some were brutally betrayed.
That’s way worse than leaving a few loose ends like LOST did. With the possible exception of one character that I will not spoil, all of them had very satisfactory character arcs by the end. Save for two characters that pop up during Season 3, no ever really bitched about the characters on that show and even more than the mysteries the characters are where the show shines. Give it a watch. It’s 50/50 if you’ll like the end, but you’ll definitely enjoy the characters and the ride.

Wife and I binged this show long after it aired.
Had good cliffhangers. Glad we never had to wait s week between episodes.

I loved it when it was airing live but it's too many episodes to watch today. And a major part of watching it live was reading about/discussing it

I would say yes wihtout question, but
crazy as it sounds, if you've watched 4 episodes and it hasn't grabbed you it might not. I know I was intrigued from the jump but after Locke's episode 4 Walkabout I was absolutely in for the long haul. It is a MAJOR time committment so if you aren't loving yet, you may want to table it to come back to later.
All the above is my first answer. My second answer would be to just make it through to the end of season 1. Each season has one kinda large overarching storyline that's more of a "big picture" kinda thing opposed to the smaller picture stuff of each character. Once you get to the end of seaosn 1 and realize what is set up for season 2 , that may be the point that grabs you. If you are still on the fence at the end of S1 I'd say just forget it entirely beucase the show just isn't your cup of tea.

It's one of those, I call..."bail shows."
And you end up pissed you got invested.
It's high-brow convoluted soap opera...where they have no end plan and just make shite up as they go along and ignore what happened before. Might as well just watch "Days of Our Lives" or "As the World Turns."

I agree with this. I spent hours reading theories about the show when it aired. That would be the one major drawback of watching it now. The discussion was half the fun.

no one is arguing that GOT has a better ending than lost.

Depends on how long your list is of other things to watch
But man watching this week to week and the discussion boards and theories, that was such a fun viewing experience
Some absolutely iconic episode of TV mixed in too.

Just think about it like this:
Lost is more about the journey than the destination.
And its a hell of a journey. Just enjoy it.
