Is True Detective Season 2 worth a watch?

I hear nothing but bad things.
I started True Detective on the season 3 premiere and between that & the following Sunday I binged season 1 and it was some of the best tv I’ve ever seen.
I am loving season 3 so far. Apparently season 2 is far from either, but is it a complete waste of time?
Thoughts?

Season 2 isn't all that bad. Has a nice noir feel to it.
But it's confusing and over-written. Too much to keep track of.
And the bad reaction was because of direct comparison to Season 1.
Season 2 is just - well, different. People wanted Season 1 Part II...and they got a completely different setting and a story more akin to Chinatown than Satanic murders.

Pretty much this. Yeah there were tons of little things that could have been better, but overall it was an entertaining season for sure.
I for sure haven't enjoyed anything in S3 as much as the latino gang shootout in S2.

I hated it during the original run.
I rewatched it in December and was entertained. It isn’t spectacular by any means, but it is an okay show if you want something in the genre.

TD season 1 is one of my favorite seasons of tv ever. TD season 2 has a couple of good moments (the bully scene, a great shootout), but mostly just falls flat. It’s forever doomed to be compared to its predecessor, and the ending made me fist shakingly angry.

Meh. It's a pretty big mess. Cool atmosphere, but it never goes anywhere.

Watch it and decode for yourself... don't get a predetermined opinion of the season. I liked it; it wasn't S1 but there really isn't else like S1nwhich most consider the GOAT.

It’s arguably better than sons of anarchy and is only 8 episodes....
