"Maybe one more movie," Black told the outlet. "I'm kind of enjoying the idea of early retirement... I've been saying for a long time that this is the last movie. We'll see. I can't really say what my next thing is because it's too early; it's a jinxer. I've got a couple of tricks up my sleeve. But not too many. I'm looking to wrap it up pretty soon. Ride off into the sunset."
The actor and musician explained that he wants to step away from the big screen to focus on family life, as he currently "spends too much time away from home", though he also admitted he would be open to the idea of television work, so long as the schedule allowed him to strike a better work-life balance.

Calling what Jack Black does acting is like calling A Christmas Story a Christmas movie.

When he inevitably comes out of retirement 3 months later he can sing the Aerosmith cover:
"I'm BLAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!
I'm Black in the saddle agaaaaiiinn"

Maybe he wants to avoid going down the Adam Sandler path, go out with some grace and dignity instead of 20 shitty movies.
I hope he does Tenacious D full time, honestly.

He better make Saving Silverman 2 first!

It is easy to say this when the jobs start drying up.
I just don't think he works well as a leading actor in a film, although I do admit Bernie was good. He is much better as a supporting character.

While true, Uncut Gems is getting Sandler some rave reviews.

He says in the article he’d be interested in doing tv. He says he’s just tired of being away from his family so much.

I was never a huge Jack Black fan... then in a span of a few weeks showed up on my Yo Gabba Gabba which my kids loved, I saw school of rock for the first time, then I saw Bernie. After that I was thinking "hmm Jack Black isn't just some fat idiot. there is some legit talent there."
then I met the guy when a friends band opened for Tenacious D, and he was a really cool dude. I saw him backstage watching my buddy's band. I had to bring some stuff on stage for part of their show. When I cam back backstage he walked up to me, and started asking how long I'd been helping them out, and what a big fan he was of theirs, and how happy he was that they agreed to open for them.
Then we started talking about Megaman, and some movies we liked. Then I told him how I had just seen Bernie a few weeks before, and he told me all about talking to the real guy. We just stood back there and talked like two regular dudes for 25 minutes.
He never once name dropped or self aggrandized. Just a down to earth humble and funny guy.

He says, ignorantly, as Jumanji: The Next Level opens in theaters.

Woof. I get people who don't enjoy his schtick but he's definitely shown range. To each his own though.

Don't hate, if someone was willing to pay you millions to act like a retard on film for 20 films, you'd do it in a heart beat.
I seem to recall him admitting in an interview, that the bulk of his recent movies were basically vacations for him and his friends paid for by movie studios.

While i don't like Sandler movies ... he has shown range and talent before. And this will be on full display later this month in "Uncut Gems".
Jack B made enough money for a lifetime just on his points on Jumanji, so obviously doesn't have to work. Will play music and pick choice roles as they come as he settles into his 50's. Not too bad.

Not sure why people hate on Jack Black. He's had an iconic performance in School of Rock, had decent leads in kids movies and a Farrelly brothers film, anchored a highly succesful animated franchise, and is a part of one of the best ensemble casts ever (Tropic Thunder).

I thought he did really well in Bernie.
