James Gandolfini's last film "The Drop"

So I finally got around to opening my last Netflix red envelope and it was "The Drop". I dont remember much talk about it even though it stars Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini in his last staring role. They were both excellent in the film. The story is...well its not Lehane's (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone) best but its a cool little crime story with twist at the end that did not see coming at all but its totally earned. I think its still on HBO Max.

Awesome, overlooked movie. Rewatched it the other day and still holds up

Very good movie. I thought it was decent until the end. That’s when I thought it became a great movie. I believe it’s the first time Lehane wrote a movie script (at least an original script not based on his books). He then wrote the book after.

I would hope so. It's less than a decade old

Wasn't Gandolfini in a movie with Jennifer Anniston as well toward the end?

Dont recall....he made a rom-com with Julia Louis-Dreyfus called "Enough Said" around 2014 that I heard was pretty good if you enjoy rom-com's.

Yeah, that's the movie I was thinking about. Thanks.

I hated this movie when it first come out, but watched it while recovering from a surgery. I hated everything that first week. Watched it again, & just a good damn solid movie, with excellent acting.
I'm not a buff like alot of you are on here, but beginning to appreciate the art more.

The twist at the end was brilliant. Some twists aren't pulled off very well. In this movie, it was one of those "that's fricking awesome" moments.

I've always been a huge movie fan but slow burn thrillers really weren't my thing when I was younger but its my favorite type of film nowadays.

That was a great line, and so fitting.

How have I never heard of this movie? Watching it now, love it so far.
I love the low key shadiness of everyone and passive aggressive mannerisms. Great acting

He was throwing 100 mph in Killing Them Softly, too.

I still wonder what "The Night Of" would have been had Gandolfini lived to film the entire season...
