right?

i had never seen then before this week and they're pretty terrible and clearly became comedies by part 2 and were absurd by part 3

but watching 1, it was pretty much a bad horror-comedy that wasn't scary and wasn't funny

i mean i get that, especially if you're about 4-6 years younger than me and the timing was right for it to be THE horror franchise of your late youth

I lost it in the shower trip. An Olympic gymnast couldn’t pull that maneuver. And that’s what the first death?

Call it a comedy if you want but you won’t ever catch me riding behind a truck carrying logs on the highway

Maybe it was that. I also just enjoyed the atmosphere of it even though it wasn't scary. I love scary movies that don't necessarily scare me. Like Scream.

Those are my favorite scary movies, even though the third and fourth aren't great. But I watched them so much with friends in junior high and high school, having movie nights and ordering pizza, and the fact they all get together at Stu's house to eat and drink and watch movies just takes me back. It was the same with Final Destination, Scary Movie (which is obviously a comedy) but they just take me back to a great time despite the flaws in them all.

They are stupid but the first three came out middle/early high school and did the same thing with friends. I'll watch one for a bit if it pops up on tv.

Ali Larter

Funniest death I think was the end of either 2 or 3. Kid says something like "Oh shite, the burgers are burning" and runs over to this tiny charcoal grill that randomly explodes for no apparent reason and sends his limbs 40 yards across the yard

Most of them die instantly in darkly humorous ways. Except for the two girls that died in the tanning beds. Easily the worst death of the franchise

After the first film, the franchise is just a way to see people killed in creative ways.
