Watched his 3 movies over the last 3 nights and came away enjoying them, but most of all liking Branagh's character performance and the quirks he brought. I thought the films got progressively less in quality but still remained enjoyable. Death on the Nile seemed the most visually stunning in spite of some obvious CGI, but Murder On the Orient Express remains the tightest IMO. Murder in Venice was the least appealing storywise and visually in spite of the location.
But I did enjoy Branagh's performance and what he brought to the character. Peter Ustinov is hard to compare to, but I think both can exist and be enjoyed separately.

I enjoyed Branagh’s take on Poirot. I agree with your review of them.
Frankly, David Suchet’s performances have always appealed to me, being so finely tuned and tightly restrained, Poirot’s quirks and eccentricities run along like essential moving parts to the complex character.

David Souchet was the best, especially considering his description from the books.

Haunting is my fave of three. The other two have been filmed before and done better.
We kicked off our Halloween movie season with Haunting. I loved the idea that there really was a supernatural presence in the house. It’s a great adaptation compared to the book; it takes liberties but makes them work.

Albert Finney's portrayal of Hercule Poirot in 1974's Murder on the Orient Express is the only one that was nominated for an Academy Award.
Also among the cast were Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York, Rachel Roberts, Jacqueline Bisset, Anthony Perkins, Richard Widmark and Wendy Hiller.
It was directed by Sidney Lumet.
It's on Paramount+.

I enjoyed them along with Agatha Christie's books. I hope they make more.

I watched death on the Nile a few months ago and enjoyed it.
Watched the other two in the trilogy in the past 2 days and enjoyed both. Orient express was probably my favorite over all. Apparently there will be more to come.
