Was anyone disputing this?

He spoke in broken English once he learned it.

The only reason this is a thing is to make people go look it up on the internet. I only saw the original a couple of times at most. If anyone asked me what did the iron giant say at the end, I’d have no clue.

I remember the post credit scene but not what he said.

i have 4 kids (2 are in their 20s now) so i have almost every line of this movie memorized.

thats why it surprised me when i mis-remembered that line.

Yeah, I'm not sure this is a mandella effect. I've always known he only said "Superman," and I have never heard this brought up anywhere at anytime. While an absolute fantastic movie, it's not very popular (unfortunately) thus doesn't get this type of attention.

Not that I've ever heard of.

He's Superman's ultimate fan. He doesn't see his end as a dreaded sacrifice, but as a welcomed opportunity to be like his hero.

That's how I saw it, anyway.

ETA: I always saw his saying "Superman" as his final, calming mantra.

But did you?

“I am Superman” vs him just saying “Superman” isn’t all that far a leap.

Maybe this is a thing, and folks are possibly confusing it with “I am Ironman”, which goes back even further… this just seems kinda contrived to me.

Probably just melding this and “I am Ironman” from the song

hogarth showed him the 'atomo - metal menace' and 'superman' comics and he said "NO ATOMO" to hogarth and picked up the S in the junkyard to wear.

in that scene he's listening to hogarth's voice say 'you are who you choose to be' and he mouthed 'i'm.....superman' right before slamming into the nuke.

the point is he only says 'superman' in response to that but i would have sworn on a stack of Bibles he said "i'm...superman"

Every time this scene comes on, I have to go do something in another room.

If you don't remember him saying "Superman" at the end I question if you have a heart.

Some things stick with me, others not so much.

Thing is, I don't even think I saw the whole movie in one sitting. Just caught bits and pieces of it.

So I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back on that.
