Did anyone watch this Netflix series? It's a short (4 episodes) series about training 5 pups in Australia from the same litter of kelpies in cattle and sheep herding. Great little series and the dogs were great to watch work.

My question is, how much training do the cattle need? Could you drop those dogs on a ranch in America and the cattle would respond? Anyway, enjoyable show that doesn't take much time.

I don't have mine anymore, but it is a thing of beauty to watch dogs work cattle; especially some you raised. Some of it was fluff, but I think Lucifer would have ended up being the best over the long haul. Imagine if he has a trainer like the female.

It is instinct in those dogs. People here use Kelpies as well as Heelers and Australian Shepards. We used Catahoulas, some use Black Mouths, some use pit mixes, some use Border Collies.
It depends on how rank your cows are and what you want the dogs for.

Border Collies are very versatile and one man and a couple of dogs could pen a large bunch of cattle. Curs usually bay the cows in a big bunch. Curs work the head to keep them together. Then you call them off and drive from behind qith horses.

Healers drive and work from behind, hence the name. Good for cattle in a pen and in the chute.

Those dogs do both, Border Collies do both as well. A well trained dog is worth a lot of money. He takes the place of two or three riders.

Yes, those dogs could work anywhere. Even the swamp cattle here and Florida. Watching a good set of dogs working on rank cattle us amazing. That would be a drawback on these and bc's, they don't have much grab or mouth. It looks like they try to take it out of them. You can have a dog with too much grab, but really rank cows need some. These dogs would work anywhere.

We watched it an enjoyed it, I’m pretty sure I remember them saying those pups are $10,000 plus in the real world.

Spoilers for the people that might watch.

The only problem I had is with the person that gave his puppy up at the end, I get he didn’t have cattle but I couldn’t give up a dog after that period of time.
