Been a big movie goer for a long time, and nothing will ever match the excitement I had as a kid when Tinseltown opened on Siegen in Baton Rouge in 1996. If I remember correctly, it was the first place to offer stadium seating. Crazy that it sat vacant for close to a decade.

Also, I remember how badass the O'neal AMC was. I'm pretty sure I was there for opening night of 300 back in 2006. Senior in HS baked out of my mind. What an experience.

Whatever the biggest theater was at Lakeside Mall in Metairie. It was a multiplex with a few screens but the biggest one was where I first saw Star Wars in 1977.

Saw Risky Business this one right next to it a few years later in '83.

Also liked Belle Promenade in Marrero as a high school kid.

I know it was a dollar theater and all but the Broadmoor Theater. My grandmas idea of babysitting was dropping us off there couple times a week lol

Saenger Theater on Canal and Rampart for going indoors to watch a movie. It was air-conditioned in a day when I lived in a house without A/C.

Heading there on the bus from the Lower 9th Ward on hot summer days using money I had earned from summer jobs was a treat for me. I'd watch whatever was playing at least 2 times before heading back home.

For Drive-In's, it was the St. Bernard Drive In that was on St. Bernard Hwy. in Arabi next to Joe Mereaux's cow pasture.

Not going to go into the specifics, but my hometown movie theater was run by friends of my parents, so starting as early as 5 or 6 my parents would just drop us off at the theater and then pick us up afterwards. I think most theaters these days would not allow that.

Tinseltown in BR seemed larger than life. I remember the rooms / screens were huge to my little kid point of view.

The Bama 6 at the rundown Bama Mall here in Tuscaloosa back in the 80's and 90's. It was trashy greatness.

Tinseltown in BR

This was the first stadium style seating theater to ever come to baton rouge. So it's the one that sticks with me. before that all theaters were the crane your neck around the person in front of you type theaters with greasy butter sticky floors.

I think before Tinseltown I went to the other one on Siegen by the new Total Wine. Maybe where the safety clinic deal is. Can't remember the name, but I can visualize the layout of it inside.

It was United Artists Theater at Siegen Village.

I grew up in that area. That theater was HOT shite when it opened up out in the sticks by us.

The other one we loved was Essen Cinema.

But Bon Marche Mall inside the theater. There was a small theater in the parking lot as well. This theater was the best for the arcade next door and around the other end of the mall, Aladdin's Castle. So before and after movies you had about 100 arcade games to choose from between the two full sized arcades in that mall.

Tinsel Town came around when I was in college. Really enjoyed the stadium seating and big screens.

Star Wars. I had all the figurines. They were not dolls!

Edit: Misread question. I saw Star Wars at the Cortana Mall when it was safe. They had a pet store and arcade next to movies.

I used to live across the street when I was a kid. We'd run across Florida Blvd to go there. Froststops was right by it as well..
