Need help deciding between 2 movies

Watching a movie tonight with my adult son and I'm down to 2 movies that I've been meaning to see for a long time and haven't gotten around to them.
Option 1: The Founder (story of Ray Krocs takeover of McDonalds)
Option 2: Thank You For Smoking
What does the board recommend?

I haven't seen founder, buy TYFS is an excellent film

Both are good, but Thank You for Smoking is better. Also it’s a dry comedy while the Founder is more of a straight biopic, if that makes a difference.

I would go with the Founder as more interesting.
The smoking "debate" was already played out even when that movie came out a while back so it doesn't register as much. Prime Katie Holmes is pretty fine though and reminds as what drove Tom Cruise to go couch jumping.

My mom watched the Founder and has more or less stopped going to McDonalds.
When I point out she wouldn’t even know what McDonalds is if not for Kroc, it doesn’t register.

Thank You for Smoking is the superior movie, and it’s not close, in my opinion.
I thought the Founder was disappointing. Kroc comes off like a giant a-hole, which is fine with me. Let’s do that movie. I’m in. But overall, it was just dull. Kind of a boring movie.

that's my assessment too. The Founder may be good, but I wouldn't know. However, TYFS is pretty great.

The Founder was like watching the History Channel's "Food that made America" episode on McDonalds, but with Michael Keaton subbing in for the parts that dramatize Ray Kroc. Interesting story, but not a great movie.
Thank You for Smoking was great; haven't watched it since it came out on dvd. May have to look it up for a rewatch .

Both are really good, so you can't be wrong, but I prefer Thank You for Smoking though. That movie is excellent.
