Colorized, Through vividly enhanced archival footage and voices from all sides of the conflict, this docuseries brings WWII to life like never before.

And some of the footage they show is hard to watch but well worth the watch.

My only complaint is it could have been at least twice as long. So many details had to be left out.

The German army were eating dead corpses towards the end of Stalingrad. Things really went sideways there.
Also…Hamburg bombings. 45,000 sheltering civilians targeted and killed on purpose by the allies. That is some f**** up shite

Just finished the series. I thought it was beautifully done.

Yeah it’s awesome, but it left me wanting more. Incredible series though.

Loving all these colored WWII Netflix docs since WWII In Color. I think that was the first one.

Does it follow the war from beginning to end like a timeline? Or focus on individual events throughout the war?

It’s a timeline but just covers the main points doesn’t go into the smaller details that made the war a 6 year long affair. Thought it was very good.

Just watched The Pacific and about to finish Band of Brothers…again. Plan to watch this when I’m done.

This the first time Netflix making colored people in the show actually work??

I thought it was well done. Like others have stated it doesn't delve deep into details but it does convey the depravity of the German campaign to devour Europe quite well.
The first-hand accounts were excellent. The carnage and senseless slaughter were not skipped but the human element like the American soldier proposing to the Jewish girl was touching as hell.

Started this last night and admittedly did not have high hopes. Another reformatted WW2 doc......really? Was actually pleasantly surprised. Lots of new footage I hadn't seen before and as another poster said, its well done.

Thanks for tip. I loved The Greatest Events of World War II they did a while back. Looking forward to it.

Glad to see the reviews are good. This is on my list.

On the 5th episode where they’re talking about the liberation of Paris. They kind of downplay the fact that the allies liberated the city and instead say it was the French resistance within the city and we just kind of “assisted”.
They also tried to make you feel sorry for the french women who were fricking and providing intel to Nazi officers. “Oh no, the poor whore who fricked Nazis and betrayed her own country had her hair cut off and she was publicly shamed!” Boo fricking hoo, Netflix

The bombing of the Abbey was phenomenal footage that I had never seen. It was taboo and the Brits and the Germans considered it off limits. I found it interesting that intel didn’t know definitively whether the Germans were holed up there or not. Ended up just being a bunch of local citizens sheltering.
