Her fake voice thing is hilarious. You can see in interviews where when she starts talking a lot, she reverts to her normal feminine voice.

Eh I’m not sure. I think many people would be like, “why in the frick are you talking like that?” Which makes a lot of these millionaire investors suspect. I think it’s just greed combined with that she is moderately attractive.

The book kept bringing up the fake voice, and my wife and I decided we needed stop and hear it for ourselves before we could continue. She pulled up a YouTube video of an appearance by Holmes on Cramer, and we were both shook and couldn't stop laughing.
It's so ridiculous.

I'm no expert in whatever field she was in, but I do remember seeing some show on how she was going to save the world. I turned to my gf at the time and said she had "Ann Coulter level crazy eyes."

Biggest fraud industry in history has always been Snake Oil...forget the Brooklyn Bridge or Ponzi schemes...
This sociopath knew that humans need answers at a cheap cost.
Forget the investors, they deserve it.
Its the average Joe and her bullshite testing that provided inaccurate results...luckily they caught her before it was widespread. Without a conscience she could've killed and ruined millions of lives. Life in prison for total disregard for human life.

The concept that you could run multiple lab tests/make diagnoses off a single drop of blood from your finger was a powerful hook.
In this era of iphone health apps, or DNA results from a swab of invisible bio-material, or instant result home medical kits, the Theranos sales pitch was a believable next-step technological advancement. I could see why investors took the bait.
I would have been especially fooled if she had personlly run those fake demonstrations right in front of me like she had done to some of those millionaires & billionaires. What a con!

I can't let go of the thought that stories like Elizabeth Holmes & that Inventing Anna girl are going to continue setting females back in major fundraising/corporate world situations. People are going to be much more cautious of women with "great ideas", even more so than before.

She was/is a caricature of a human. What we are seeing in the show now is pre-big press so it is hard to tell how accurate it is but likely to be reasonably close.
FYI the most recent 20/20 has a piece on Holmes too. S44 E16
