Maybe in Uruguay, but not everywhere else. Like a previous poster, I read the book, Alive, written about it when I was 12-13. The event had just happened a few years before. The book felt like it celebrated their ability to survive. I still remember a lot about that book.

One thing that I remember is the rescue helicopter landing at an angle, and the fear of decapitating the survivors as they rushed to greet the rescuers.
