re: New Oscars Rule: If You Don’t See All The Nominated Films, You Can’t Vote

Why wouldn't you want to watch all of the films of you're an Oscar voter? The only situation I see is if these are life long voters and eventually lose interest in films but don't want to give up the "prestige" of being a voter. In which case, term limit.
Of course you do, but life also interferes. I most certainly see every film that is a best pic nominee and all the films from my branch. But to see every single film from 20+ categories is not easy, even on the Academy site. I do take advantage of special screenings ... some sweet gatherings with good food and star mingling opportunities.

If you want to see the movies you care about getting awarded, watch the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice awards.

This does sound like the Oscar's feeling on the matter. It's why they're irrelevant.

Some of you sound like the obnoxious people who come out during the Superbowl week with hilarious gems like "I don't watch sportball, but i love the parties" etc. Those fun folks that completely dismiss other people's interest that aren't their own.
It is hardly irrelevant, even in a changing industry. Especially worldwide, where the art form is held to a higher standard. After almost a hundred years of existence, is it as popular as it was? No, but is still an entertaining, important part of popular culture and the industry.
Don't like it --- simple -- you don't have to watch.

Maybe they should nominate better movies then.

Crazy this is just now a rule

They also need to bring the Best Picture nominee total back down to 5. It's oversaturated every year.

Now if they'd dial back their retarded rEpReSeNtAtIoN rules that punish white actors/directors, they might eventually regain a bit of credibility... you know, if they stop diddling kids.

Don't worry, no one will.

Isn't there an amendment about cruel and unusual punishment?

The Oscar's having enforced gender and racial quotas for nominations, means we are in a true asterisk era for Hollywood,

The fact that these people simultaneously support the rule and refuse to admit it exists just shows how completely dishonest they are. They’re ideological zealots and shills so you’re never going to get an honest discussion with them about anything.

Ok. . .and?
Do you consider that a cast full of diversity and inclusion?

Are you illiterate? I said Oppenheimer met the requirements so obviously they exist. Yet you don’t find it a bit odd that it was able to meet those draconian diversity rules you and Madking are crying about with that cast?

The second one was Anora.
White actors are obviously so fricked now that studios have to hire a gay gaffer or offer a paid internship in order to have a film qualify for best picture.
