Watching some Home Improvement on Hulu and have seen this ad a few times…

It is about a girl who wants to buy a house but her BF didn’t want to. She has a guy walk out of her room and grab coffee and calls him babe…

She then finishes the commercial saying that’s not her BF it’s her new neighbor.

What is the point of this? Is she saying she left her BF and is now a single home owning whore?

frick is wrong with the world today?

Sure seems that way.

I’m all for single home owning whores….. I just don’t understand the marketing here…. It seems like a single home owning whore wasted a lot of money making this commercial to appeal to basically no one

They are appealing to single home owning whores with French Press coffee makers.

Better than suggesting 3 or 4 roommates go in and buy a house together. Like that will end well.

Her boyfriend refuses to buy a house with her, signalling his lack of committment to the relationship. She dumps him, buys a house, and starts dating again. Why is she a whore for being a responsible homeowner looking for a long-term relationship?

She says her and her BF have been together for years….she dumps him over the home ownership issue…. Then begins banging her neighbor immediately.

Seems to me that the commercial
Could have had a woman and her dog happily cuddled on the couch enjoying their new home. I’m wondering why Zillow
Decided to go with the sexual angle on this one.

She could have also just said I broke up with him and bought a house..!

Why do they have to involve the neighbor one night stand? It brings nothing to the commercial other than making it weird and sexual for no reason

This commercial sounds better than many shows out right now

Is this it?

My gf at the time tried to complain i didnt take her house shopping with me when i bought my first one, and then proceeded to try and tell me which rooms would be used for what when i bought a 2 story 5 br.

Bs be crazy, man.

Part of the reason i stay single now. A girl can bring absolutely nothing to the table, have everything provided for them, and still act like they are the boss. It's a damn shame.

...signalling common sense. Buying a house w/ a girlfriend is stupid. That would never work out.

I’m guessing it’s the angle of “women empowering themselves through material purchases.” Zillow is smart to tap into it because #1 it works and #2 it has captured attention.

Neighbors with benefits.

How dare they imply she's living in a cozy, white neighborhood.

I bet there's other versions where a minority comes out of her bedroom.

And why is it even a male? Seriously? Why not a strapping gal with a shaved head wearing a lumberjack shirt?

That lady posts Taylor Swift lyrics on Facebook. Probably a hairstylist or a teacher and soon to be pregnant and single after the neighbor knocks her up and leaves.

Not that it would bother me but I half expected it before seeing.

While I’d be remiss to pretend like an interracial relationship or casual sex bother me in a commercial, it’s moreso the consumerism/go girl being pushed.

She would have gotten a lower rate with more buying power with a husband. I could love a woman to the max but there’s no way in hell I’m buying a house with somebody I’m not married to.

Now that I look at it again, "Josh" looks a bit mixed race. A bit mulatto, maybe.

But yeah, definitely more of a 'go girl' vibe being pushed here.
