Office Season 1-3 Question about Jim and Pam

mainly, Pam
after the thread on this a few weeks ago, i started a re-watch (stopping after season 2 most likely...may delve into 3 but for sure no farther)
when i first watched this show live, i was a big mangina and my personal bias made me truly sympathize with Jim. the emotional investment presented is very focused on Jim as well. Pam is sheltered a lot more due to her committed relationship to Roy. i think it kind of leaves some questions open as to Pam. how invested is Pam in Jim?
i've heard in later seasons she becomes an insufferable c-word, so it isn't shocking to me that she isn't really that invested in Jim.

Pam, like many women, was never sure what she wanted. She really started to like Jim when she wasn't even able to be his friend anymore.

how many times did Pam jill off thinking about jim during seasons 1-2? 3? i'm curious how that was split up after he left
ETAL i just got to casino night. i had forgotten jim told her his feelings that night
"i'm really sorry if you misinterpreted things"

This was the worst thing ever. I could def understand where Jim was at with the whole Pam thing. It's happened to me before.

I think Pam liked Jim but she was stuck because she did have feelings for Roy as well. They were planning a wedding and I think she's the type that wants to please other people before herself. She knew if she cancelled the wedding with Roy and started seeing Jim, she would look like a flake (or worse) and she would risk disappointing her family and other people. Also, imagine how that would have looked if she would have dumped Roy and started seeing Jim. She would have been the product of gossip at a small business.

I don't think she ever seriously considered breaking up with Roy until Jim left. She had the perfect situation (in her mind), her work husband in Jim who she can communicate with and vent her frustrations. Then she goes home to get nailed by Roy who is the known variable, her investment of 9 years. If Jim never left she would've married Roy.
She deserves a small amount of credit as many women in real life still would marry the guy they're not happy with.

i quit in season 4 (i think it was 4).
pam and jim getting together just killed the main backbone of the show for me. the british version was vastly superior in this regard
then i couldn't handle andy and the dwight/angela breakup and all the ancillary stuff
it should have been 3 seasons and that was that. trying to extend it really just killed the heart (jim/pam) and charm (secondary stories)

very fair analysis. it makes me hate pam that much more

it's one of those things where i'm almost like "where the frick does this uneducated, indecisive, and lazy receptionist get off?"

Andy might be the most fluctuating character in tv history. He went from being great as the crazy kiss arse opposing dwight in season 3. Then he got with angela and was terrible. After the angela debacle, he returned to being a good character. Then as we all know turned to utter shite in the final season.

Pam was obviously in a failing marriage, the show made that pretty clear to begin with. She was too invested in him, and didn't want to disappoint anyone. Jim was a nice pressure valve that she could lean on for real attention, and she condoned it with herself because she wasn't "cheating".
