I think it's amusing that they took villains and changed their race and people are complaining.
They changed the tall skinny blonde women to a pudgy black women journalist. So, it was not just the villains.

I was fine with the cast.
Yes, it was a bit dark. Nothing redeeming about Cruella.
A couple parts had me laughing out loud. I thought I'd be hitting the overpriced bar a couple times.
So all in all, not bad.
The comic relief of the fat dude and his chihuahua was the highlight.

Doesn't matter. I'd watch a crappy Emma Stone movie just a quickly as I would Amy Adams. Or any other redhead. I got a fever, and the only cure is more redhead(s).

In 1965 and then 1975?
Yes.
London has been a very diverse city since the middle 1800s and had another rise immediately in the years following WWII.

Does it show her coochie or something?

Do you think the internet would still be standing if that happened?
Posted on 6/2/21 at 6:53 pm to SEClint
You remember that the internet almost burned down for Jennifer Lawrence? Emma Stone is like 5 times hotter. The internet would t survive

Screen Rant takes it apart pretty well.
Haven’t even seen it but now I want to just because this makes it seem hilarious

Screen rant loves rambling on about absolutely nothing. They are basically the millennial version of that crazy uncle who hears that you are going to Bahamas for a vacation and spends the next 28 minutes talking about why he went to the Swiss Alps in 1977 instead of Portugal and it’s because penguins don’t like cinnamon or some shite.
Basically Oweo but movies

Just saw this with my wife in the theater because none of the other movies showing were appealing at all. It was okay, but they were clearly trying to make Cruella the hero of the story and I just can't care about her at all.
Race swapping the lead character from the original movies was eye-rolling, but she was only a minor character in this movie so no big deal really. No chance I would watch a 101 Dalmatians remake with a black chick in that role though.
ETA: I think they originally wrote it to have her kill the dalmatians. Certain parts make less sense after she didn't do that.

Watched it the other night. It was good. Emma and Emma nailed their roles. I’m not sure if anyone else could’ve done so well.

The lead characters in the original movie are the two dogs Pongo and Perdita.

Jesus Christ dude. Get a life. It's a movie about talking dogs.

Doing this to children's movies is far worse than to anything else. Wake up, fool.

I don't need to wake up, you need to get your head out of your arse.
It's a movie about talking dogs. The fact that you think it's some terrible affront to race swap the dog owners (who again, are NOT the main characters of 101 Dalmatians) is ridiculous. Their races changing have no effect on the story. They could be green aliens and it wouldn't matter. Saying you'd refuse to see a 101 Dalmatians w/a black Anita is straight pathetic.

Typical Hollywood diversity nonsense. Why is Anita Darling black and Roger middle eastern? Because fricking Hollywood.
Didn’t notice. Didn’t care.

Wrong on both accounts. Everyone in this thread knows they can't now go back and cast a white woman in this role, because they have established a black woman in that role, and that's the problem. The message is that white people can be replaced, but black people can't. The message is that white people have the best, but black people can just get by on the color of their skin.
That is the message being sent to YOUR children, and you are here defending it. You are teaching all children to accept that white people will never be good enough as long as a person of color is after something they want. You are teaching them that being the best isn't good enough if you're white. You are an absolute fool, and you will wake up at some point. Unfortunately, it will probably be a lesson you have to learn the hard way.

Nope. It's exactly what we should all be doing.

I’ve never seen the original cartoon. So why would I have a second thought if there was a dark skinned character?
