Alone does it where they know they have a built in natural way of ending the show. It's going to be extremely hard to live in the winter up there. They've had what, 100 contestants compete on the show, and 2 of them could have made it through the winter alive.
If they crash landed on a deserted island, as long as there was fresh water supply, they could stay there indefinitely if they know what they are doing. With the harsh winter factor, food becomes almost non existent, so unless you killed something huge and have a ton of stored food, you simply cannot make it through the winter alive.
But i do like your scenario of being stuck in a situation, rather than preparing for survival, they just have to still do it up north. You also have to remember that a production and safety crew has to live near ALL of the contestants for months. If they did different locations, then production cost would sky rocket b/c you've have to have multiple crews.

True. Could also run groups such as a group of 4 get one boat with supplies with the other group getting the same. Each group must compete against each other on a point system on shelter building kind of like Naked and Afraid but they film themselves with no crew. Could take away items at check ins to make it harder. Can even make it a tournament in different locations. Round 1 Desert, Round 2 Mountains, Round 3 Extreme cold areas, plains....
Just spitballing ideas. Most important would just be zero to near zero production/crew involvement.

That drove me nuts. They were pissed the dude burned down his shelter before he left and called him "petty". When the girl was tearing up his raft, I wish he would have thrown her in the water...

Very poor show. Supposedly they did like 40 days and none of them lost real weight. Alone has people losing 20-50pounds in that many days.
The whole thing seemed like a cool idea they started, realized about 3 weeks in that it sucked, and then just rushed the ending because they didn’t want to spend more money.

When the guy was trying to steal the sleeping bags and that woman couldn't see the thief behind a branch in a makeshift ghillie suit with a camera man staring back at her I turned it off. Horrible stuff.

I felt bad for Javier. He found someone destroying his shelter and his boat. But he couldn't do anything about it? He couldn't touch them. It didn't make any sense. At that point, just go burn and destroy everything they have.

Just finished watching and I also felt really bad for Javier. He seemed like a solid dude. But holy shite frick Jill and Amber. The mental gymnastics those two displayed were insane. I would have been royally pissed off if they won

I liked how three people in a row quit on Javier because the alpha team was too mean. Like none of you wanted to do anything about it? Keeping them from winning would be my 1st and only instinct at that point.
Also Charlie team kicking out Justin bc of Jill’s letter was the most mentally weak shite i’ve ever seen. No way three grown arse men could fall for that after seeing her throw a hissy fit on the bank a day before. Either they planned to get rid of Justin from the start (which is amoral according to their own code), or the show needed to get down to 5 to wrap shite up before winter bc its all scripted.

I mean they also got to split the $1M 3 ways instead of 4 ways. They really didn’t need him

I've done some diving and there is a lot more to the story. They had to wrap the show, which is why they did the race so early. The rules didn't make sense and neither side was ready to last much longer.
There is a long interview with Javier that I'm going to get to soon. I guess there were rules about physical violence. But lesser ones about theft and destruction of property. So I get why those few people quit. Cause what else can you do? You can't defend yourself or your property (you could freeze to death without your sleeping bag). It's a no win situation. I do wonder if there will be lawsuits out of this, especially for Javier who was forced to quit..

I bet if they do a season two it will be completely different.
The rules were too fuzzy and new for S1, but if S2 happens people will have time to plan and they will quickly move to theft and destruction.
I would watch

This makes a lot of sense. Several people just didn't want to deal with the trash and how people chose to play the game.
Javier showed a lot of restraint with Amber when she was damaging his boat and trying to take his buoys. I would have wanted to knock her head off

Yes, but they acted high and mighty about it when it was probably for greed.

I just watched the interview and was rummaging around on reddit. Apparently, There was a lot of footage withheld from the encounter at Javiers camp. Jill started taking his clothes and when he was trying to grab them back she began accusing him of assault.
Imagining how the producers just sat back and watched that, I hope they get sued or fired from netflix entirely. What sacs of shite.

I’m trying to finish this, but it’s a chore.
All you need to know is that they don’t put the warning at the front about these being experienced survivalists.
Food is no longer a concern after like three episodes.
Location is suspect. They’re in basically a park area. You can tell by the cut stumps and logging roads.

I just started this and noticed the lack of weight loss and how clean they are.
At one point it looks like the yoga chick has eye liner with the cat eye thing going on.
Also fishing in grizzly bear country in what looks like fall without a firearm is nuts.
Something is just off about all of it.
