He was a bitch in the Iliad. I mean, why are you surprised?
The Iliad is almost the tragedy of Achilles. He is the hero with morals. He is supposed to fall.
The movie sucked because it threw the plotbout the window as the writers thought they were smarter than Homer. Hmmm ... Sounds familiar, doesn't it.
Homer wrote a great ending. They ignored it.

This thread sucks, and you all know why.

Diane Kruger is sexy as hell but she was miscast as Helen of Troy. Should have gotten a woman of Greek descent to portray her.

Hector is the only true noble warrior who isn't selfish..."the noblest Trojan."
A "martyr to loyalties, a witness to the things of this world, a hero ready to die for the precious imperfections of ordinary life."
In William Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida, Hector's death is used to mark the conclusion of the play. His nobility is shown in stark contrast to the deceit and pridefulness of the Greeks, especially Achilles.
Paris is ungodly selfish and Achilles pouts in his tent for most of the war.

Why? She's a fictional character. Troy has been proven to have probably existed but the war?
quote:
the Iliad and the Odyssey deliberately avoid giving too much description of Helen’s appearance because the poems want to allow each member of the audience to imagine Helen according to their own personal conception of ideal beauty.
quote:
Helen was widely considered the most beautiful of all mortal women. In his Works and Days, Hesiod describes her as "fair-haired Helen".

quote:
Homer repeatedly describes her in his works as "Helen of the lovely hair" (Odyssey,15:58)
quote:
And the "white-armed Helen" (Iliad, 3:119)

So maybe the filmmakers did their research.

Ha was coming to say the same thing. Paris has ALWAYS been considered the POS in the story.

Yeah, little bitch is the only way to describe him. I didn't hate him at first because we all understand that men frick up and make mistakes, and he seemed to own it. But when he ran from Menelaus that was the most low T moment I've ever witnessed and Bloom was such an awesome badass when he played Legolas that it was just hard to watch, so much cringe.
I wanted Paris and Hector dead at that moment, even though neither probably deserved to die, it was just hard to feel any sympathy for such cowardly/little bitch behavior.
Really like Troy, though. I'll watch it almost every time it's on.

I’ve read that there is archeological evidence of an extended siege and for the burning of the city.

The players and motivations may have been exaggerated over time, but in a traditional oral culture, there is always a grain of truth within the tale. Remember form of the tale we have now was at least 500-700 years after when the initial epic would have been started to be performed.

He said he couldn't watch that movie because his character is unbearable. It might of been the Graham Norton show.
That sounds like pretty much every character that he's ever played.

Lol….do you think that Greeks in that time looked like Greeks of today?

I think there was an article not to long ago that claimed Turkish archeologists found what they believe is the “Trojan Horse”

How many times did Paris fight and run in the Iliad?
The whole war was going to be decided in the beginning when Paris and Menelaus were supposed to get it on. Paris ran and Aphrodite helped him escape. Paris never really showed up in battle again. He was a mere archer who got help from Apollo when he killed Achilles. Archers were seen as cowards back then.
