But for those of us in the real world, at least in SE Louisiana, know good and well that black guys have a thing for bigger white women. If some Hollywood production is just checking off boxes, the least they could do is get it somewhat correct.

my main point was that the WM/BW pairing is one that Hollywood has never done in a realistic manner.

oops, sorry. i meant...

Also, maybe the trilogy of Spiderman movies that just came out.

All I ever wanted was a third movie with the same actors, just to get some closure. This just looks lame, regardless of the tokenism.

The amount of downvotes you are getting shows how far they still have to go. This story isn’t even thread-worthy. It’s people being cast in a movie. There is a lot more inclusion in film now so casts are multi-cultural. Big whoop.

Even in The Bodyguard they aren't really a couple. There's a brief kiss at the end. As for Spidey, Tom Holland and Zendaya are one of the high profile couples I was thinking of, as they are dating in real life. In the movies, though, they've busted that relationship apart.

here was nothing woke about that commercial.

The ad agency explicitly stated they were aware of the lack of interracial families in commercials and they set out to make one.

You haven't read CRT, have you? Seeing color is all they want you to do. They also want affirmative action regardless of merit, as they say the concept of merit is a white construct. Yes, really.

So no, it's not just A girl liking A boy. I wish it was.

So what? How did you know that from watching the commercial? There's nothing in the commercial that is woke, it's just a married couple, their child and cereal. And the amount of hatred that came out because of it was way over the top.

Against the spirit of the character from the book. Annabeth is described in the novels as having blonde hair and gray eyes. Like it or not, there is now a quota system in Hollywood and the producers of this film cast this actress not because she was best for the role, but because their HR department said they needed a diversity hire in the lead female role.

That movie was both a critical and commercial failure, thank God. The actress said you weren't supposed to see her as a black woman, yet apparently they interjected a plot point that one of the reasons she was set up and killed was because she was black. WTF?

As far as the whole race swapping deal goes, I blame the author of the books. Either Rick Riordan is on board with it, or he gave up creative control over the source material. Disney has gotten so ridiculous and in your face with this BS.

Lest we forget, we still have a Latina Snow White and a black Ariel to look forward to.

This is actually how far we've come. People forget, but WB actually altered Brandon Routh's eye color to make them blue when he played Superman...'cause Superman has blue eyes.

In an effort for forced diversity, we're being gaslit into thinking that expecting studios to stick to source materials was never a thing, and even if they did do that, it's unnecessary now and all those man babies that made the things popular and kept the IPs valuable all these decades can frick right off.

Hell, on this board we argued over whether or not Gal Gadot could play Wonder Woman because she was not big breasted enough. We discussed Superman's costume in Man of Steel. We argued over the casting of Thor and Captain America. All of these were based on nothing more than wanting to have the most accurate portrayal of a character we already knew. So if you're going to complain that Gal Gadot doesn't have big enough tis to portray Woman Woman, why would anyone assume that race or gender swapping a character is clearly racist or misogynist rather than just nerds doing what they do?

I love when people act like this is some right wing talking point, when the studios EXPLICITY tell you they are doing this, because they are proud of their actions and are advertising it for the activists on that side.

And there's a brief frick in the middle.

It's a romance. Those are usually about the beginning of the relationship, not the middle, and we're left knowing that they will get together again.

And Rae Dawn Chong got Rae Chon Donged in Quest For Fire.

They specifically told us at the end that the relationship ended. There was no getting together again, the fling was over. Something, something, forbidden love. It's how Hollywood treats most WM/BW relationships. It doesn't matter if it's The Bodyguard or Malibu's Most Wanted.
