I enjoyed Pretty in Pink much better than 16 Candles. I know it’s an unpopular opinion.

The Breakfast Club is a better movie than both.

16 Candles is far superior.

So did everyone else.
The original script had Molly Ringwald’s character end up with Ducky. The women in the test audiences wanted her to end up with Andrew McCarthy, so Hughes re-wrote the ending.
Not to be deterred, Hughes rewrote the script, flipped the genders, had the lead character end up with the friend instead of the more popular love interest like he wanted to in the first place, and called it Some Kind of Wonderful. Nobody minded this time.
Ringwald’s refusal to take the Mary Stuart Masterson role in that film is the reason she never worked for Hughes again.

It was always funny to us that he wore a casual suit to school and smoked in the school hallways, never going to class. I guess that was the definition of rich back then.

But Duckie drags the movie down...in fact the parody of him in Not Another Teen Movie is great because its so annoying.

Never understood the big deal with Molly Ringwald.
She wasn't hot. (Which actually worked somewhat in Sixteen Candles)

I liked all those flicks, it was right in my wheelhouse time wise. I liked Some Kind of Wonderful best though.

No question about that. Right up there with Valley Girl (1983)
