Ridley Scott's director's cut of Napoleon has dropped onto Apple+

The theatrical cut was 158 minutes long, this new version is 270 minutes in length and delves deeper into Josephine's backstory as well as adds a little more context to Napoleon's campaigns - adding in the famous Battle of Marengo in 1800 for good measure.

Ridley has an expertly crafted Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven. It’s probably my favorite DC of any movie.
That said, I have no hope that he can improve Napoleon with any cut footage. I may fast forward to check out the cut battle though.

The theatrical cut was shockingly uninteresting.
Maybe he submitted just the outline version to the cinemas, maybe they needed to put the movie back together, maybe it takes 2 additional hours to make a compelling story because the bare bones version doesn't cut it.

It’s 205 minutes long. It has 47 minutes of cut footage on top of the theatrical cut. It’s still too long.

I might watch it. I have gotten so used to series, if a movie is real long I treat it like a series. Find a stopping point and watch the rest the next day.

Same. I love Phoenix as an actor but he was completely wrong for Napoleon Bonaparte.
