Great interview. Goes into his process, how he got started, how he approaches life, etc.

Also, Rodriguez is a HUGE Frazzeta fan and wants to produce and direct a Conan Trilogy if he can secure the rights. He was going to do it for Netflix, but Netflix pulled back from the project because it was too "problematic" at the time.

So, Joe and Robert spend about half an hour talking about Frazetta and Robert E Howard -- which is fun.

I listened to him on Lex Fridman the other day and it was really fascinating to hear him talk about his early career and how he did things with no budget

If you've never seen his The Director's Chair series on El Rey Network, you're really missing out. Rodriguez interviewed his director friends and idols. Extremely entertaining to listen to him interview Tarentino, and to hear them talk about starting out together with nothing.

All 13 Episodes

• John Carpenter
• Guillermo Del Toro
• Quentin Tarantino (2 part interview)
• Francis Ford Coppola
• Luis Valdez
• Robert Zemeckis
• Michael Mann
• George Miller
• Sylvester Stallone
• Jon Favreau
• Frank Darabont
• Barbara Streisand

He put on an art tour of the Frazzeta museum, and at one point was attached to directing John Carter of Mars, where he wanted to have Frazzeta on staff as a designer on the film.

Yeah, in the above interview he talks about how the Frazetta children contacted him a few years ago to store the originals during hurricane season.
