Rolling Stone: The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time

HOW DO YOU identify the very best series in a medium that’s been commercially available since the end of World War II? Especially when that medium has experienced more radical change in the nine years between the finales of Breaking Bad and its prequel, Better Call Saul, than it did in the 60-odd years separating Walter White from Milton Berle? The current Peak TV era is delivering us 500-plus scripted shows per year, many of them breaking boundaries in terms of how stories are told and who’s doing the telling. So, we decided to update our list of television’s all-time best offerings, originally compiled in 2016.
Once again, we reached out to TV stars, creators, and critics — from multihyphenates like Natasha Lyonne, Ben Stiller, and Pamela Adlon to actors like Jon Hamm and Lizzy Caplan as well as the minds behind shows like The X-Files, Party Down, and Jane the Virgin — to sort through television’s vast and complicated history. (See the full list of voters here.)

The Wire #4 makes this invalid

And All in the Family is 21 behind something called I May Destroy You. Should easily be top 10.

GOT way down at #31 is puzzling. Looks like they weren't impressed with the last season either.

Sex and the City being over It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia… only a fricking retard would say that. This list is an abomination.
EDIT 1: Frazier and the Honeymooners being at 75 and 74 respectively. Christ
EDIT 2: Chapelle’s Show at 69? It’s in the Top 25 for sure. Probably the most consistently funny two seasons ever. Chapelle’s Show did more epic and memorable skits than SNL has done in nearly 50. I better not see that show above this.
EDIT 3: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart at #66 above Chapelle? Get fricked.
EDIT 4: Girls at #65 again above Chapelle’s Show…. And Jon Stewart’s Daily Show as well. Again, get fricked.
EDIT 5: The Underground Railroad at #61… again, get fricked
EDIT 6: Key and Peele at #59… K&P probably deserves the overall list, but over Chapelle? Ummmm, no, get fricked.
EDIT 7: Arrested Development should be higher than #37. Again if I see SNL after this I’m going to lose it.
EDIT 8: The Office and Monty Python at #34 and #33 respectively. Better not see SNL higher.
EDIT 9: Watchmen at #23?! Are you fricking shitting me?! Seriously, Watchmen is not in the Top 300. This list is done. Last EDIT to this and will be responding in a new post since this is all you need to see.

WTH is Fleabag?
Amazon Prime. It's pretty great and worth a watch. I don't know if its top 10 ever though.

Band of Brothers waaay too low on the list.

Moving on:
EDIT 10: Star Trek is only one over Watchmen? I better see Star Trek: The Next Generation next.
EDIT 11: “I May Destroy You” at #19…. What the frick is this show? Never even heard of it.
EDIT 12: SNL at #18… no you’re not that much higher than Chapelle or Monty Python. Get fricked.
EDIT 13: The Leftovers at #17… yeah no.
EDIT 14: Atlanta at #9… another no.
EDIT 15: What the frick is Fleabag? Never heard of it.
Only three animated series by the way: The Simpsons, South Park, and Rick and Morty. No, there should have been in the very least another five of them. That’s one of the worst lists I’ve ever seen. What a dumpster fire.

Game of Thrones is actually in an appropriate ranking. You can’t shite the ending that badly and be a Top 20 show.

Agreed with GOT.
I'd also say SNL is proper ranked.
Yes, Monty Python and Chappell are great , but the body of work for so long gives SNL a boost.
Probably gave us more movie stars than any of the top 20 shows combined

Fleabag above Seinfeld makes this entire thread shite.

And Animated Series that should have been on the list:
Batman: The Animated Series
Animaniacs
Beavis and Butthead
King of the Hill
Futurama
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Archer
Bojack Horseman

I firmly think that Chapelle’s body of work is better than all of SNL’s. That’s incredible given he was only around for two seasons. He did not have a miss, and I don’t care about the aborted third season. Only Norm’s Weekend Update puts it in the debate with Chapelle.
