Who remembers this movie? Jason Patric, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sam Elliot, Greg Allman...

The opening scene is awesome.

Oh wait, I'm thinking of Narc...his other drug-cop movie.

It's an all-time classic. Kind of depressing but an important film.

i do ... was going through a particularly difficult time in life and that soundtrack still resonates with me ... clapton wrote it fairly soon after his son's death ... the movie didn't quite follow real-life events, but it was probably very accurate as to the dealings of a mid-sized city and the drug trade, particularly in texas ... haven't listened to the music in quite a while, but it's still there in my head ... very good movie ...

Yep, it was a solid movie. The principles being LEO made the fall into drug-addled hell extra stark.

Also remember it having a great sense of place, in particular that dealer’s place in the shite part of town.

Love the movie, have the DVD, and love the characters in it.

On the likable side, we have the two undercover cops, and their snitch.

On the "Would hate to be around that guy" side we have the acting chief of police, and some really scary dealers. Mainly the tatted up overalls with no shirt William Sadler character named Monroe , and the " Pretty soon you be feeling all unnecessary" guy named Willie Red.

Not even sure how bad the Greg Allman character named Will Gaines was. I might want to kill cops that set me up illegally, too.

I've said on here before that it's very realistic for the subject matter, at the time. It shows the dirty underbelly of the "Fun times" portrayed in Dazed & Confused. It's the life some of those kids would have ended up in. Both movies remind me of growing up in the 70's. I got exposed to a lot of that "Dazed and confused" life, and a little bit of the "Rush" life.

Wish we had a full movie about the Monroe, and Willie Red. They were way more interesting than Will Gaines.

Saw it in the theatres when it was released and had the music cassette tape. Either a senior in high school or freshman in college.

Have it on my movie drive as Real Rush and the movie about James Hunt and Niki Lauda Fake Rush.

I was a senior in high school when it came out. Thought is was a good movie and others have said the soundtrack is great!!

Awesome movie - i watched it a ton in college.

I liked the drug dealer's line when he made JJL shoot up. "like floatin' on a cloud of titties"
